In the hazy retrospect, Ian vaguely heard a prophetic poem chanted in the cadence of Terra.
The apocalypse had finally descended
Fate had forsaken us
A thousand ages of glory turned to dust
World-consuming calamity flames burned sun and moon
All living beings of the mortal world
You shall face judgment
The traces left by all former ages
Would all return to dust
And perish in oblivion
All living beings of the mortal world
You shall listen
On the day heaven and earth fell into utter darkness
When the end arrived
Not one of you would be spared
This fourteen-line poem was the most orthodox of the many fourteen-line prophetic poems in Terra's myths and legends. In a mournful tone like a sigh, it recounted the apocalypse's arrival, the world's destruction, the coming Terminus of all living beings, and the return of all that once existed to dust, to be utterly forgotten.
But back then, there were no fewer than several hundred versions of such apocalyptic prophecies on Terra.
It could practically be said that every year, someone would claim the end of the world was coming soon. To Terra's people at the time, none of these prophecies had ever come true, so naturally, they did not care.
A continuous collapse, indeed.
But Terra was, after all, a world with psychic power...
This world truly had real prophets and real prophecies.
Now, it seemed that perhaps even before the Calamity of Falling Skies descended, a powerful prophet had foreseen this scene.
At the very least, he had seen the instant the Calamity of Falling Skies occurred.
But he had been limited by his era—or rather, he had not been born in the age when the Pre-Epoch Civilization of Terra had unified the planet and discovered the Spark of extraterrestrial civilizations.
