Dave fell silent for a moment, then said, "Superheroes are still powerful. Besides, Homelander is the only one with a bit of a problem."
"The problem is that they don't understand magic. Only magic can counter magic."
Balthazar shook his head. "Stop texting your girlfriend. We're getting back to magic training. We don't have much time left."
"Peggy isn't my girlfriend yet."
Dave looked bashful as he spoke. Balthazar couldn't help slapping his forehead. Was that really the point?
"Enough nonsense. Get practicing," Balthazar said. "At the very least, you need to master Plasma Ball before the final battle."
"All right, I'll start practicing right away."
As Dave spoke, quite a few people nearby were watching them, hoping to secretly learn magic. Unfortunately, their efforts were doomed to be wasted.
Starlight Annie rubbed the bridge of her nose. This world was getting livelier by the day. First Demon, and now even mages were showing up.
Annie asked inwardly, Andrew, do you have any leads on this disaster?
"Relax. With me here, nothing will happen to New York."
Andrew said no more. Annie breathed a sigh of relief and stopped asking questions. She still had plenty of confidence in him.
Soldier Boy's eyes flickered. He walked over to Balthazar and watched them train as he asked, "Are there any other mages besides you? Can you ask them to come help? I hear there'll be a lot of evil mages this time."
"So what if there are a lot of mages? Who among them could possibly be a match for me?"
Homelander sneered at his words. "Soldier Boy, if an old geezer like you is afraid of dying, you can stay home. It won't make any difference whether you go or not."
Soldier Boy looked at Homelander with pity in his eyes.
