Both vampires hesitated. Seeing their distraction, Serena moved at high speed and appeared behind Marcus, thrusting her dagger straight at his back.
Marcus hurriedly moved his wing to block Serena's dagger. She snorted and slashed diagonally, nearly cutting off half his wing.
"Damn it! A mere descendant dares to act so arrogantly?"
Marcus flew into a rage. Throwing caution aside, he shouted inwardly, I sacrifice myself in exchange for power.
Chthon immediately took a portion of Marcus's source power, then injected compound five into his body. Sensing the fluctuation, Andrew immediately traced the sacrifice, attempting to pinpoint Chthon's location.
Unfortunately, the attempt failed. Chthon had substituted a follower for himself. Andrew snorted and killed that follower in passing.
If Chthon had acted personally, even he would have struggled to evade Andrew's lock. But when a follower made a sacrifice and he granted power according to the rules, even the Mechanical Demon King could not pinpoint him.
Chthon's compound five was an enhanced version with extraordinary effects. The moment it was injected, Marcus roared. Then countless bone-like spikes emerged from his body and shot toward Serena in a dense barrage.
Serena hurriedly dodged with high-speed movement. Marcus grinned savagely and flapped his wings, taking flight. Then he fired bone spikes at Serena like a machine gun, forcing her to retreat again and again.
"Go release William."
Marcus shouted as he attacked. Watching Marcus display his newfound might, Victor was tempted. But he was too calculating to decide immediately, and instead ran toward William.
Seeing this, Serena hurled her dagger with all her strength. It pierced Victor's shoulder and pinned him hard against the wall.
Then Serena caught a bone spike hurtling down at her and flung it backhanded. It streaked toward Marcus like a meteor.
