Maleficent stared at him in surprise. She was a woman who preferred attacking, and she was exceedingly proud. Displeased, she asked, "Are you looking down on my abilities?"
"Looking down on you? If I were, why would I give you the most important task?"
Andrew chuckled despite himself. "Once the final battle begins, the Demon Kings will do everything they can to attack the central area and kill the people from Earth inside, strengthening the world consciousness.
"With their power, even a casual strike could kill tens of thousands. We'll do everything we can to stop them, but the Demon Kings have plenty of tricks. Some attacks are bound to slip through.
"That's where you come in. You'll have to cover the gaps and block every attack that gets past us. Your burden will be heavier than anyone else's."
Maleficent's expression softened at his explanation. Then she said, "You gave me this task because I can draw on the Forest Kingdom's power, didn't you?"
"Of course. With the Forest Kingdom's power at your disposal, you're the best suited to defending it."
Andrew nodded. "Speaking of which, Princess Aurora is in the central area too. Knowing her, she'll certainly be with her people. You wouldn't want anything to happen to her, would you?"
"Of course I won't let anything happen to her."
Maleficent snorted. "Fine. Leave this task to me. I can promise you that I'll do my best to protect everyone."
"If I didn't trust you, why would I entrust you with such an important responsibility?"
