Elsa knew that the Mechanical Demon King Death spoke of was the prince, but she did not care. "No matter how strong you are, we'll defeat you," she said. "Because we can't afford to lose."
The River God nodded in agreement. He was not particularly compassionate, but if the world disappeared, he would naturally disappear along with it.
"Let me see whether you have the strength to back up those words."
Death's long hair floated upward. Everyone present felt their death stars flickering, but none of them retreated. They unleashed their auras to confront Death, and in the next instant, battle erupted.
"Death!"
Chthon and Set looked displeased when Death vanished. Just then, Soldier Boy stepped forward and said, "Are you planning to fight me two against one, or will one of you hold me off while the other heads to the Core Area?"
"It seems the Mechanical Demon King has made quite a few preparations."
Chthon snorted. "Set, let's kill Soldier Boy together, then head to the Core Area."
As Chthon spoke, he secretly cast a curse. A skull-shaped phantom image silently appeared between Soldier Boy's eyebrows, and Soldier Boy failed to notice it at all—or rather, pretended not to.
Set did not hesitate either. He transformed into an enormous serpent and lunged to swallow Soldier Boy, his jaws seeming capable of devouring heaven and earth.
Soldier Boy smiled faintly, turned, and ran. Speechless, Chthon and Set immediately gave chase. To avoid a repeat of what had happened earlier, they stayed close together so they could not be separated again.
Along the way, Chthon activated the curse he had planted earlier. Soldier Boy immediately felt as though his head would split apart. Set instantly traveled through space, engulfing Soldier Boy in a vast cloud of poisonous mist.
