Escape

The Osborn Group was a major corporation, so the police arrived quickly. Hearing the sirens, Doctor Lizard sent Spider-Man flying with a swipe of his tail. Then, he took several vials from the pharmaceutical freezer, jumped out the window, and rapidly climbed down.

"He's not afraid of sunlight?"

Wang Nanxuan narrowed his eyes slightly. Doctor Lizard was even stronger than in Final Destination, but he was not a magical creature. His soul was still intact.

"Don't even think about running, big guy."

Spider-Man immediately gave chase. The two brawled all the way to the ground, startling the police officers, who opened fire on Doctor Lizard.

Unfortunately, the officers' handguns were basically useless against Doctor Lizard. He swung his tail, sending several officers flying backward with screams. They hit the ground, their fate unknown.

That was not all. Doctor Lizard charged toward a police car and flipped it over with all his strength. The car rolled into another police vehicle, glass shards scattering everywhere as the officers retreated in panic.

Doctor Lizard sneered disdainfully and fled toward a nearby alley. Spider-Man was deeply dissatisfied with his brutality and shouted as he chased after him.

Wang Nanxuan shook his head and asked Gwen, "Gwen, do you want me to get you out of here?"

Gwen said dejectedly, "Andrew, I want to go back to the lab and take a look. This is all my fault."

"This isn't your fault. It's Doctor Connors's own fault. Honestly, I seriously doubt whether he bought his doctorate. He injected an untested drug into his own body? Even a beginner wouldn't make such a mistake."

"I don't understand why he did it either. It completely violated protocol."

Gwen shook her head. Then she remembered what had happened earlier and asked, "By the way, you still haven't told me how you jumped up and caught me. Are you a Mutant?"

"Do you discriminate against Mutants? Uh, I don't think you would. You'd probably draw my blood and study it."

"Nonsense."

Gwen punched Wang Nanxuan lightly in the chest in mock anger. Wang Nanxuan said, "I'm not a Mutant. I'll slowly tell you about my background later. For now, just think of me as a Kung Fu Master."

"What a perfunctory answer. Not even Bruce Lee could jump as well as you."

Gwen complained, but she did not press the matter further. She jogged toward the laboratory upstairs.

The laboratory had already become a field of ruins. Several injured people groaned on the floor, while several corpses with their throats torn open lay nearby, sending chills down the spine.

Gwen hurriedly helped treat the wounded. Before long, the police arrived and sealed off the entire laboratory.

Not long afterward, S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived as well. They wanted to take everything in the laboratory away for investigation, but Osborn's executives refused and began arguing with Coulson.

In the end, the Osborn Group agreed to hand over some of the information and allow S.H.I.E.L.D. to take people away for questioning, but company lawyers had to accompany them. In addition, S.H.I.E.L.D. had to help cover up this incident.

Once the negotiations were over, Coulson had the agents take the surviving researchers away. Gwen shouted unhappily, "I'm not going anywhere. I've never even heard of S.H.I.E.L.D. You have no right to take us away."

Coulson said, "I'm sorry, young lady, but we do have that authority."

"I'd like to hear exactly what gives you that authority."

Leaning against the doorway, Wang Nanxuan filmed while sneering, "As far as I know, S.H.I.E.L.D. is an organization under the United Nations. An organization like that has no actual law enforcement authority in America."

"Stop filming."

Two agents stepped forward, intending to snatch Wang Nanxuan's phone. Coulson was startled and hurriedly stopped them. "Stop! Mr. Wang, why are you here?"

Wang Nanxuan said coldly, "Gwen is my girlfriend. Why do you think I'm here?"

Gwen was overjoyed upon hearing that. Their relationship had progressed rapidly during this time, but only now was it truly established.

"Girlfriend?"

Coulson froze. Wasn't Andrew Wang's girlfriend Susan? Ghost Rider really knew how to have fun. Still, it was not exactly breaking news for a rich man to have several women.

"Mr. Wang, I'm S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson. We mean Miss Gwen no harm. We only want to find out the truth."

Coulson spoke with a humble attitude, completely unlike his earlier domineering manner.

"Ask your questions right here at the Osborn Group."

Wang Nanxuan said, "Gwen, don't hide anything. S.H.I.E.L.D. knows all about the vampires. In fact, they're the ones who have been keeping the news under wraps."

Gwen shot Coulson a disgusted look. Coulson was somewhat embarrassed. Thinking of something, he asked, "Does this incident have something to do with vampires?"

"Listen to Gwen."

Wang Nanxuan said. Gwen then explained everything in detail. Coulson's expression turned somewhat grim. Vampire blood had merged with the Lizard Potion—this was going to be troublesome. They had to capture that Vampire Lizard as soon as possible.

"Miss Gwen, thank you for the information. If anything else comes up, we'll contact you again."

Coulson nodded and led the other researchers away from the Osborn Group. After they left, Gwen asked Wang Nanxuan, "Who exactly are you? Why is even such an overbearing organization as S.H.I.E.L.D. so polite to you?"

Wang Nanxuan took Gwen's hand and kissed it. "Who I am isn't important. What matters is that I'm your boyfriend."

"I'm starting to regret it."

Gwen snorted. Looking at the ruined laboratory, she sighed. "I hope the police catch Doctor Connors soon. Doctor Connors isn't a bad person. The only reason he became so violent was because of the potion."

"Maybe you could research an antidote."

Wang Nanxuan said. Doctor Lizard was not a vampire. There was still a chance to save him.

Gwen's eyes lit up. "That's right, I can research an antidote. Uh, I don't have the detailed information on the Lizard Potion, though. I can't research anything without it."

"The company is in chaos right now. You can use this to steal the Lizard Potion data. I guarantee they won't discover it."

Wang Nanxuan handed Gwen a spy USB drive and spoke quietly. Gwen asked in surprise, "Why do you have something like that?"

Wang Nanxuan spread his hands. "Isn't it common sense for reporters to carry spy software?"

"Sure, common sense. Just like wearing a helmet when fishing."

Gwen rolled her eyes. After hesitating for a moment, she took the USB drive and headed for Doctor Lizard's office while no one was watching.

Although Spider-Man, the police, and S.H.I.E.L.D. were all hunting Doctor Lizard, he still successfully escaped into the sewers and gradually returned to human form.

Even after returning to human form, Doctor Connors's mind remained in Doctor Lizard's state. Recalling everything that had happened, he wore a blissful expression. The feeling of becoming a lizardman was simply too wonderful.

"I can't keep such a good thing all to myself. I'll turn everyone in New York into lizard people. Then New York will become a city without flaws."

Doctor Lizard shouted fanatically. Then, he set up a new laboratory in the sewers. He wanted to continue researching the Lizard Potion and make it even more perfect.

At the same time, Doctor Lizard planned to develop some of his own kind. That way, he could defeat that damned Spider-Man and fulfill his dream.
