Despite saying that, Melanie watched Andrew run ahead and, for some reason, suddenly felt that she would regret it for the rest of her life if she didn't follow him.
That feeling was actually the world's favor reminding Melanie to seize this opportunity.
After a moment's hesitation, Melanie gritted her teeth and followed him. She wanted to see just what this lunatic was going to do.
"Hey, you're not allowed out here!"
The soldiers outside immediately aimed their guns at Andrew as he charged out and shouted at him. Andrew yelled, "Everyone, run! Those monsters will kill you! Run!"
Andrew's cries alarmed the crowd, but most people still stayed where they were. Several soldiers exchanged glances, preparing to step forward and arrest him first.
Just then, the negative monsters moved. Their captain had arrived, and under his command, the monsters, already itching to act, immediately attacked the humans around them.
One monster with spikes growing out of its back bent over. The spikes whistled out like bolts from a powerful crossbow, instantly punching through several civilians and drawing agonized screams.
"Ah! People are dying!"
Now the crowd was finally terrified and fled in a frenzy. The reporters, however, seemed unafraid of death, filming as they retreated.
Seeing this, the soldiers immediately abandoned Andrew and aimed at the monsters. Utterly fearless, the monsters charged at the civilians and soldiers. The soldiers wasted no words and pulled their triggers. Then... uh, then nothing happened.
Firearms didn't work in these end times. That had been established from the outset, and the mechanism was simple: something had gone wrong with the gunpowder reaction.
"Those bastards in the Logistics Department have gone way too far with their corruption! Even the guns don't work?"
The soldiers knew nothing about that and assumed logistics was to blame.
