Just then, the phone signal suddenly cut out. Wong was stunned. Kamar-Taj's network provider was a certain Demon King, and the reception was second to none. Why had it suddenly dropped?
"I thought Thanos had prepared some surprise for me. So it was just you lot. How disappointing."
The Ancient One looked up at the sky with undisguised disdain. Hearing her, Wong immediately put away his phone and watched the sky warily. The other sorcerers did the same.
"Ancient One, you knew we were coming, yet you still dared to send your main force away. You're even more arrogant than you were back then."
As that chorus of voices rang out, an enormous black cloud radiating an ominous aura slowly descended from the sky. Hideous faces flickered in and out of view within it.
"Arrogant? If I'd known it was you, I would have sent the remaining sorcerers out too."
The Ancient One sipped her tea and said, "How boring. I have to clean up these old losers again. Wong, tell the sorcerers to stop activating the grand array. We don't need it. Save some energy; Kamar-Taj doesn't have resources to spare either."
