Barbara and Poison Ivy both had impressive abilities, but the Evil God Incarnation's power to play pranks was just as formidable. With the bustling streets giving him an enormous advantage, neither woman had managed to catch up to him.
The chase gradually threw the streets of the Big Market into chaos. The guards immediately headed over, ready to arrest all three troublemakers.
Leaving that pandemonium aside for the moment, a market this large was bound to have a black market. Following the intelligence supplied by the agents, Andrew and Diana entered the black-market district.
Something occurred to Diana, and she asked Andrew, "Does the Space Fortress have a black market too?"
"It actually doesn't. For one thing, the Space Fortress places very few restrictions on trade."
Andrew smiled. "For another, the Space Fortress has countless cameras. Combined with Alice's incredible analytical abilities, that leaves no room for a black market to develop.
"I can't say the entire Space Fortress is completely under my control, but ninety-eight percent of it is. Every transaction is subject to my taxes."
"That last part is the real reason there's no black market, isn't it?"
Diana quipped, "Speaking of which, you're God himself. Why do you care so much about money?"
"It's not the money I care about. It's the process of making it."
Andrew said, "Besides, I don't like people taking advantage of me. Of course, you're the exception. I don't mind you taking advantage of me at all. The more, the better."
Diana said irritably, "You make it sound as though I actually have!"
"You've gained more than you realize. You just don't know it yet. Once this is over, your divine power will soar."
Andrew shook his head. "Enough about that. We're here. Take my hand."
Diana took Andrew's hand as instructed.
