Background / History

Deathbone began as a damaged Little Skeleton known informally as the “Door Panel Skeleton.” Mu Yuan used Evolution Points to evolve it into a Skeleton Soldier after a battle with Gray Wolves. Its unusual initiative, expressive behavior, and ability to learn Cleave independently convinced Mu Yuan that it could become the territory's future general, prompting him to name it Deathbone. 5

As a Skeleton Warrior, Deathbone became Mu Yuan's principal field commander. It trained newly recruited skeletons, conducted reconnaissance, established training grounds from scrap materials, and led the assault on the Goblin Camp through observation, ambushes, and selective engagements rather than a direct charge. 16 17 19 20

Deathbone's repeated evolutions expanded its role from a frontline commander into a Hero Unit capable of raising, commanding, and sustaining large undead forces. It established the Undead Bone Sacred Mountain, developed the Undead Bone Territory system, and later built the Land of the Undead into a major undead power. 72 147 420 686

After becoming the Bone King, Deathbone pursued a path founded on both death and rebirth rather than death alone. It eventually gained recognition from the Quiet Great Lord as the legitimate leader of the mainstream undead force, completed the Undead Emperor's Road to Sainthood, and ascended to the Saint Realm. 643 687 692 693

Appearance

Deathbone's appearance changes significantly with each evolution, but it consistently retains the form of an armored skeleton warrior wielding a greatsword.

  • As a Skeleton Soldier, it stood roughly 1.8–1.9 meters tall and wore a helmet, breastplate, battle skirt, round shield, and cleaver. 5
  • As a Skeleton Warrior, it gained refined silver-gray full-body armor, a Wide Blade Greatsword, and three bone spears; its prior shield was no longer part of its standard equipment. 17
  • At Epic Three-Star, its black-armored form developed pale-blue soul fire with faint gold visible within its eyes. 299
  • As the Bone King, it is associated with black mist, a black cape, the Death Lament sword, and the vast Undead Bone Sacred Mountain. 410 427
  • Its Saint Body can manifest through the Nether River, black mist, and the surrounding Netherworld rather than functioning as a conventional physical body alone. 726

Personality

Deathbone is exceptionally cautious, disciplined, and mission-focused. It favors reconnaissance, reserve plans, ranged attacks, and overwhelming force over unnecessary risks; during a rescue mission in Strange City, it ignored nearby treasures and distractions to execute Mu Yuan's objective. 19 21 160

Despite its caution, it is highly adaptive in combat. It independently learned Cleave, discovered that Charge could enhance its jumps, developed combined skills, and continually seeks ways to make its forces safer and stronger. 5 17 79

Deathbone is deeply loyal to Mu Yuan and takes pride in fulfilling its lord's expectations. It also values the survival of its undead subordinates: its dissatisfaction with Undead Rebirth stemmed from the skill's inability to resurrect Mu Yuan, while its Willpower Light allowed it to restore fallen troops during a losing battle. 30 179

Abilities & Skills

Martial Combat and Weapon Mastery

Deathbone began as a melee fighter but developed into a versatile combatant proficient with greatswords, thrown bone spears, and concept-enhanced attacks.

  • Cleave — Coats its blade in black energy and can split tough targets; early on, Deathbone could use it only twice consecutively at full energy. 5 10
  • Shadow Slash and Shadow Accumulation — Evolutions of Cleave and Charge obtained after its advancement in the Skeleton Graveyard. 109
  • Charge — Grants explosive movement; Deathbone discovered it could be used to improve jumping and obstacle traversal. 17
  • Bone Spear Throwing / Bone Spear Triple Throw — Its thrown spears strike with cannonball-like force. Triple Throw instantly destroyed three awakening Gargoyles. 17 31
  • Underworld River — A greatsword attack forged from the Sacred Mountain's power, accumulated undead energy, and numerous techniques; it defeated Ghost Man Jack. 160
  • Great Emperor's Sword — An ultimate technique capable of severing conceptual connections, used to sever the Great Snake Servant's connection to its true form. 428

Death Absorption and Undead Rebirth

Deathbone's early talent and self-developed resurrection technique established its ability to sustain itself and its troops through battle.

  • Death Absorption permanently increases its strength, spirit, and energy by absorbing death essence from slain enemies, though the increase has a limit based on rank. 30
  • The talent was later micro-adjusted to absorb Soul Sand, Heaven-and-Earth energy, and dense undead or shadow energy. 109
  • Undead Rebirth can restore fallen undead allies, enabling Deathbone's forces to take greater battlefield risks. 30 31
  • Limit: Undead Rebirth cannot resurrect non-undead targets, including Mu Yuan. 30

Hero Command

Hero Baptism elevated Deathbone from a troop commander into a battlefield-scale undead leader.

  • Hero Aura — Obtained during Hero Baptism. 72
  • Undead Domination — Hero Talent suited to commanding undead forces in large-scale battles. 72
  • Death Legion — A Strategic Skill that absorbs battlefield death aura to summon temporary undead, strengthen undead self-healing, and potentially preserve a small number of low-level summons as permanent troops. 72
  • Limits: Death Legion requires a long casting prelude and enormous energy expenditure; Soul Crystals can replace part of the cost. 72

Undead Bone Sacred Mountain and Domains

Deathbone commands an expanding extradimensional territory that serves as both fortress and power source.

  • Domain of the Dead — Developed from Withered Bone Land; separates targets in vision, spirit, and consciousness while establishing Deathbone's control over the surrounding area. 135
  • Undead Bone Sacred Mountain — An evolving territory between reality and spatial rifts, initially opened through the Undead Bone Territory skill. 147
  • Well of Death — A Sacred Mountain structure opened after its Epic Three-Star evolution. 298
  • The Legendary evolution enlarged the Sacred Mountain tenfold and enabled construction of white-bone fortresses, arrow towers, Flesh Transformation Pools, Undead Towers, and other structures within its territory. 410 411
  • Netherworld Gate — Connects to the Sacred Mountain and allows low-cost travel for undead; after Saint ascension, it primarily accommodates direct-line undead born from Undead Calamity Breath. 496 710

Undead Bone Giant

Deathbone can construct and command enormous skeletal war machines.

  • Undead Bone Giant Beast — A combined skill created from Withered Bone Land and Undead Bone Lament; it assembles thousands of bones into a giant beast around Deathbone. 79
  • The giant beast can draw enemy fire and create openings for allied operations, though its size also makes it an obvious target. 81
  • Undead Bone Giant — An Epic-grade permanent bone creation capable of storing immense death power; it can contain more skeletons to grow larger and carries the concepts of Tenacity and Desolation. 496
  • The Undead Bone Giant has been used as a separate combat front against the Ice Burial Grand Duke. 506

Desolate King Bone and King's Might

These Epic powers allow Deathbone to damage both physical and conceptual targets.

  • Desolate King Bone — Reinforces Deathbone's skeleton and attributes while granting the Power of Desolation, which annihilates contacted armor, lifeforms, energy, and intangible domains. 298
  • Limit: Power of Desolation cannot be restored through potions or Soul Sand and recovers only with time. 298
  • King's Might — Materialized willpower that can suppress forces of Heaven and Earth, entangle enemies, and later help subjugate wild undead. 306 410
  • King's Lament Sword — A golden will-forged manifestation around Death Lament that can directly counter conceptual power. 496

Undead Calamity Breath, Tides of Death, and Life and Death Cycle

Deathbone's core great power turns battlefield death into a self-sustaining undead war machine.

  • Undead Calamity Breath — Converts slain enemies into undead and allows Deathbone's forces to persist, grow stronger, and potentially develop wisdom under its influence. 411 420
  • Tides of Death — Treats gathered undead as a single damage-sharing tide that can revive fallen members by consuming death power and extend Deathbone's concepts throughout the legion. 496
  • Life and Death Cycle — Generates Power of Rebirth when Deathbone's soldiers fall and Breath of Death when undead are resurrected; Deathbone can convert its own power between life and death. 574
  • At Perfect Legendary Grade, death aura strengthened allied undead, suppressed non-allied living targets, and allowed the Tides of Death to manifest wherever the aura had spread. 574

Death Concept and Death Imprint

Deathbone's later power centers on the authority to impose death directly.

  • It developed the Death Concept beyond simple annihilation, recognizing death and rebirth as complementary paths. 490 643
  • Its Death Concept reached the second realm, allowing it to bestow death directly on weaker targets and prevent the Great Snake's resurrection by severing its conceptual connection. 548
  • Its concept reached the third stage, strengthening the Death Imprint and granting authority over the root path of death. 616
  • In the Name of Death — Converted the Blood Shadow Great Terror's blood lakes into Tides of Death after Deathbone identified them as the enemy's power source. 676

Limit Cultivation Method

Deathbone possesses extraordinary skill-deduction and teaching ability.

  • It forcibly deduced dozens or hundreds of skills in the Knowledge Hall to create an Epic-grade Limit Cultivation Method. 341
  • The process briefly pushed its will into a Half-Step Limit Sublimation State and damaged part of its origin. 341
  • It later taught the method to Tian Yuan's generals through refined skill seeds and repeated power transmission. 341

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Death Lament — Hero-exclusive compatible greatsword with Advanced Sharpness, Toughness, Life Drain, Self-Repair, death-aura storage, and temporary/permanent attribute enhancement. It drains the life force and soul of unauthorized wielders. 72
  • Undead Greatsword — A treasure-grade weapon used before Death Lament; capable of carrying more of Deathbone's energy output than ordinary equipment. 54
  • Wide Blade Greatsword — Standard Skeleton Warrior equipment. 17
  • Bone Spears — Initial standard ranged weapons; only three were carried at a time, and repeated use caused noticeable wear. 17
  • Undead Soul Battle Flag — An Epic Treasure able to carry concepts related to death, fear, and revival. 491
  • Stealth Orb — Tested by Deathbone before deeper wilderness exploration. 298

Relationships

  • Mu Yuan — Lord, creator of Deathbone's early evolutions, and the person who named it. Their trust enables Mu Yuan to borrow Deathbone's abilities and temporarily assume the Undead Bone Funeral Master class. 5 101
  • Bone Two, Bone Three, and Bone Four — Subordinate skeleton commanders. Deathbone trains and directs them, treats them as junior “brothers,” and leaves power seeds in their territories for emergency reinforcement and resurrection. 16 160 322
  • Duo Lai — Fellow Tian Yuan general whose infiltration and reconnaissance often complement Deathbone's direct battlefield pressure. 81
  • Bone Dragon Sario — Deathbone's Death Dragon subordinate and mount during its journey to meet the Quiet Great Lord. 686
  • Quiet Great Lord — Powerful undead leader who tested Deathbone, recognized the Land of the Undead as the legitimate mainstream undead force, and completed its Undead Emperor Path to Sainthood. 686 687
  • Death Knight Ulysses — The Quiet Great Lord's confidant; first approached Deathbone as an emissary, later guided it to the Quiet Great Lord. 490 686
  • Burning Heaven Monarch — Saint Realm opponent from Dragon Sleeping Valley who confronted Deathbone during the Red Mist Land campaign. 643 647
  • King of Twilight — True King adversary whose forces Deathbone resisted through the Underworld projection, Tides of Death, and Concept Saint Body. 725 726

Trivia

  • Deathbone's original informal designation was “Door Panel Skeleton,” reflecting the damaged skeleton's use of a door panel-like object before its first evolution. 5
  • It created its own obstacle course and training ground from scavenged materials before becoming a Skeleton Warrior. 17
  • Deathbone originally considered ranged combat safer than close combat and began collecting additional spears as a strategic reserve. 21
  • Its insistence on “steadiness” became so intense that it blamed itself for being insufficiently cautious after exhausting the Knowledge Hall's Spiritual Light. 341
