Registered Archmage 498 Received a crimson Mage Guild badge after absorbing the red-robed Rorschach's power; his physical body began naturally absorbing ambient magic.

Background / History

Rorschach was originally a university student on Earth. He transmigrated into the body of another Rorschach, a prospective Mage at the Imperial Royal Magic Academy, inheriting the body's memories, magical theory, and casting instincts. The original body's parents were aging farmers, and its previous owner had pursued Fireball proficiency as a route to military employment and financial security for them. Rorschach instead resolved to explore magic broadly while still taking responsibility for the family he inherited. 1 4

He became a formal Mage by passing the academy assessment, then left the Imperial Capital as part of an adventuring team employed by the Luowei Merchant Guild. His early travels exposed him to cult activity, intelligence work, and the practical uses of his magic for combat, survival, and logistics. 3 8 19

Rorschach later entered the Tower of Stars' research environment under Kano's guidance. His work increasingly combined magical theory with engineering, alchemy, energy conversion, computing, and industrial production. He improved the Energy Potion into the Essence of Hercules, developed Transmutation Dust conversion technology, and created defensive systems such as the Blue Light Shield. 107 108 136 146

After establishing himself in Bavaria, he expanded into factories, Mage Tower construction, magical computing, and spellcasting infrastructure. He created a Tower Spirit from a purified artificial soul and a Universal Computing Core, then used it as the foundation for the Spellcasting Cloud. 339 349 363 383

During the Shadowlands crisis, Rorschach was split into original and red-robed selves by an ancient mage's plan. The two aspects worked together to lift Shadow City's seal and destroy the Shadowlands, after which their powers were forcibly fused. 328 330

In later conflicts, he continued developing countermeasures against anti-magic technology, explored the Boundary Land and Astral Plane, and rejected offers of power dependent on divine patrons. The Lord of Order ultimately revealed that Rorschach had been used as a catalyst for technological progress before assigning him to guard the Boundary Land until intelligent life could be evacuated. 527 549 665

Personality

Rorschach is intensely curious, pragmatic, and driven by the desire to understand magic rather than merely use it. He habitually interprets spells through engineering, physics, systems design, and repeatable processes, often pursuing applications that other Mages dismiss as overly mechanical or industrial. 40 41 174

He values independence and is reluctant to rely on patronage, divine authority, or inherited privilege. He declined Bart's financial sponsorship, carefully considered how much of his research to disclose, and rejected Hercules's path to godhood in favor of his own abilities. 4 147 549

Despite his ambition and occasional secrecy, he shows sustained concern for others. He mentors Andre, supports his education and employment, assists Bart's Mage Tower project, and harshly condemns officials who neglect civilians during a snow disaster. 204 210 647

Abilities & Skills

Spell Construction and Analysis

Rorschach can deconstruct spells into elemental casting steps or “attributes,” then recombine them into new techniques. His panel records spell terms and allows proficiency in shared attributes to carry into related constructions. 6 8

  • Developed Arrow Shot by separating projectile behavior and adding kinetic energy. 6
  • Reworked Water Creation into Rorschach's True Water Creation and the offensive Water Bullet. 8
  • Used spell-frequency theory, descriptors, feature symbols, and characteristic values to standardize spellcasting. 28 363 383
  • Created a “magic strings” casting approach that functions even under anti-magic interference. 527

Elemental and Combat Magic

His earliest mastered spells were Fireball, Water Creation, and Basic Decomposition. Fireball was his strongest initial offensive spell, while Basic Decomposition became increasingly precise through practice. 1 3 8

  • Fireball — scored near the assessment maximum in temperature and kinetic output. 3
  • Basic Decomposition — progressed to controlled-scale decomposition and could affect weak plants as well as inorganic materials. 8
  • Water Creation / Water Bullet — supplies purified water, extinguishes fires, and launches kinetic water projectiles. 8 12
  • Ice Ray — granted him Energy Deprivation and Ray attributes, later used to develop a High-Pressure Water Gun and Pseudo·Red Dragon's Breath. 27
  • Mage Hand / Mage's Arm — gained tactile feedback and greater dexterity through Mana Condensation, Repulsion, and Feedback Perception. 12 24

Detection and Perception

Rorschach uses magic to identify supernatural activity and subtle disturbances in Aether.

  • Magic Detection — detects magical items, magic nodes, and high-mana casters within a conical field; can slightly penetrate thin walls and wooden doors. 24
  • Can sense abnormal Aether flow at close range even when conventional Arcane Vision detects nothing. 272
  • Experienced visions of vast arcane entities during mana testing and later explored the Astral Plane and Archetype Layer. 77 349

Transmutation Dust Research

Rorschach became a leading researcher in the conversion, stabilization, and application of Transmutation Dust.

  • Identified blue crystals as a possible passivated form of Transmutation Dust. 136
  • Built a Transmutation Dust Converter that converted divine power into stable blue crystals at 61.2% efficiency. 146
  • Designed mass-produced Transmutation Dust–Aether Collection and Conversion Devices. 161
  • Researched anti-magic devices and discovered methods to cast within their suppression fields. 526 527

Defensive Magic and Engineering

Rorschach specializes in defensive systems that combine magic circles, material design, and automated control.

  • Developed the Blue Light Shield, a mass-producible defensive core against energy attacks. 136
  • Taught and researched the Blue Light Barrier, relating it to Force Wall principles. 146 147
  • Designed Bart's passive Mage Tower defenses with barriers, self-repair functions, and embedded circuit diagrams. 204
  • Proposed and accepted Caroline's design for a distributed Mage Tower linked by Teleportation Arrays. 409

Soul, Tower Spirit, and Spellcasting Cloud Technology

Rorschach created a Tower Spirit by purifying an artificial soul and integrating it into a Universal Computing Core. 349

  • Used the Descent Summoning Technique, Enlightenment Art, and Astral-Plane ascent to purify his artificial soul. 348 349
  • Designed magical interfaces enabling the Tower Spirit to connect directly to magic circuits. 349
  • Created characteristic-value and Arcane Seal systems that allow the Tower Spirit to assist less naturally gifted spellcasters. 363
  • Developed the Spellcasting Cloud, a shared system for uploading, analyzing, and using standardized spell chains. 383 473

Axiom Creation

After mastering Axiom Creation, Rorschach could reconstruct and bring his physical body into the Boundary Land, create a clone there, and return to the Prime Material Plane. 549

  • Created a Serpent Cane prototype linked to the Law Tree as a terminal for its power. 549
  • Produced bodies and constructs through corrected, non-absolute versions of Axiom Creation. 569
  • Later used divine insight connected to nature to help reconstruct the polar plane against the Mother Goddess's chaos. 661

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Mage Emblem / Mage Guild badge — identifies his Mage status; changed from purple at Intermediate rank to crimson upon Archmage registration. 19 77 498
  • Staff — carried for spellcasting and self-defense; later reproduced as a Serpent Cane prototype linked to the Law Tree. 272 549
  • Universal Computing Core — housed Rorschach's purified artificial soul and became the basis of his Tower Spirit. 348 349
  • Tower Spirit — intelligent magical entity that assists spellcasting, runs connected systems, and functions as a “librarian” for spell knowledge. 362 363
  • Transmutation Dust Converter — converts divine power into stable blue crystals. 146
  • Blue Light Shield — defensive core for protection against energy attacks. 136

Relationships

  • Caroline — former academy lecturer and teacher; supported his early magical development, recommended him to the Tower of Stars, later collaborated on research and Mage Tower planning. Rorschach repeatedly seeks her out and worries about her safety. 3 6 409 527 549
  • Kano — mentor at the Tower of Stars; entrusted Rorschach with major research, supplied resources and apprentices, and advised him on handling sensitive discoveries. 39 116 146 147
  • Bart — academy friend and later collaborator in Bavaria. Rorschach designed Bart's Mage Tower defenses; Bart supported Rorschach's Tower Spirit ritual despite misgivings about its methods. 3 204 348 349
  • Richard — academy friend who joined the Imperial Army. Rorschach later worked alongside and worried about him during major crises. 3 4 569 647
