Corpse Transformation

Faced with Zhao Tianlei's words, Ye Sitong pointed at the chaos ahead and stammered, "The girl who jumped off the building and killed herself just came back to life. She turned into a zombie and pounced straight at an unsuspecting student, then started tearing into him."

"What? Came back from the dead? A corpse transformation?"

Zhao Tianlei froze, then hurriedly said to Wu Bin, "Wu Bin, keep an eye on Ye Sitong for me. Also, keep watch on the back door at all times."

He raised his axe and brought it down on the student's head, smashing it open with a single blow. Just as Zhao Tianlei dealt with the crisis inside the library, a sudden loud crash rang out. The library's main entrance had apparently been rammed by the zombies. More precisely, the heavy solid-wood doors had not broken.

Under the constant pounding and pressure of the zombies outside, however, the metal fittings embedded on both sides of the doors had been torn loose. The doors were knocked down under the zombies' weight, but the library tables behind them blocked them from opening completely. Instead, two gaps appeared on either side. Those two gaps gave the zombies outside an opening. In an instant, five or six zombies squeezed through from both sides.

"The zombies are coming in! Run for your lives!"

Once the zombies broke through the doors, the students in the hall began screaming. Someone shouted, and everyone started fleeing. Almost all of them rushed toward the second floor via the stairs, but the staircase was narrow, and the first-floor hall contained several hundred students. It instantly became hopelessly congested. Many people were knocked down by those behind them and could not get back up before the crowd trampled them underfoot.

"Fuck!"

Zhao Tianlei had originally wanted to lead some of the students in a counterattack, kill the zombies trying to get inside, and have someone block the doors again. Only then would they have had even the slightest chance of surviving. But now everyone had fled. No matter how capable he was, he could not fight off the endless stream of zombies with both hands alone.

Once Shen Xinyu realized it was Zhao Tianlei, she quickly pulled the female assistant along and ran behind him. Zhao Tianlei headed straight for the emergency exit. Ye Sitong and Wu Bin were waiting there for him as well. Zhao Tianlei waved at them and shouted, "Follow me! We're going up through the emergency exit!"

As Zhao Tianlei led the four of them upstairs through the emergency exit, the other students ran upward via the staircase in the hall. Lin Mu, Qian Hao, and the others hiding on the second floor hurried into the director's office when they saw the scene. They locked the door from inside and used desks, bookshelves, and sofas to barricade it. After the fleeing students reached the second floor and found nowhere to hide, they ran straight toward the third floor.

At that moment, under the pressure of more and more zombies outside, the gap in the breached first-floor entrance grew wider and wider. More and more zombies poured inside. The students who had tripped or been trampled while climbing the stairs became the unlucky ones. One after another, they were seized by the zombies that rushed in, and their heart-wrenching screams echoed throughout the library, making the scene especially tragic and horrifying.

"Clang!" Another loud crash rang out, and Zhao Tianlei could not help but freeze. The sound clearly meant that the emergency exit had been breached by the zombies outside. Now both the front and back doors had been broken through, and hordes of zombies were pouring inside. There was no third door for them to escape through. Were they all going to die here?

Wu Bin, Ye Sitong, Shen Xinyu, and Shen Xinyu's female assistant, Sister Hua, heard it as well, and everyone was overcome with terror. After breaking through the doors, the zombies roared continuously, their cries deeply assaulting everyone's ears and nerves. Zhao Tianlei led the group through the emergency exit to the second floor, but instead of continuing toward the third floor, he ran straight to the men's restroom. The girls no longer cared about the circumstances and followed him inside.

As soon as everyone entered, Zhao Tianlei hurriedly locked the restroom door and braced himself against it. Then he pointed at a window at the far end of the men's restroom and said, "Quick, open that window and climb down the pipes outside. There's a platform below.
