The table was a complete mess. The large, pitch-black slab of pork belly that had originally been there had vanished without a trace, while two duck frames had been scattered into strips of bones across the tabletop, covered in saliva from someone's nibbling.
The rice cooker and Thirteen Spices, which should have been in the kitchen, had somehow ended up in the girl's arms. Inside, the peanuts and Thirteen Spices chili sauce had undergone some kind of bizarre chemical reaction??.

Hua Xin scooped up a spoonful of rice mixed with peanuts and Thirteen Spices chili sauce and put it into her mouth. Her eyes were unfocused as she chewed on instinct, then slowly swallowed.
