"But, Master..." Mira wanted to say something from the side, but Makarov stopped her.

With no other choice, Chen Fan and Natsu hastily packed their things and set off. Chen Fan still looked at Makarov with some reluctance on his face, scaring Makarov into quickly looking away and pretending not to notice.

By then, the guild had quieted down. Some people were still discussing Chen Fan and the others in low voices. Mira was tidying up the cups nearby, clearly distracted.

Makarov glanced at Mira and smiled. "Mira, pour me some wine."

Mira finally came back to her senses. "Ah, coming, Master."

As Mira poured his drink, Makarov said quietly, "Are you worried about Chen Fan and the others?"

Mira blushed and immediately said, "What do you mean, worried about Chen Fan?"

"I didn't say Chen Fan. I said Chen Fan and the others." Makarov said with a somewhat improper grin.

"Ah, Master, honestly... you're making fun of me." Although Mira was smiling, the worry in her heart could still be felt.

Seeing this, Makarov said, "You don't need to worry about them. As long as Chen Fan is there, nothing will happen to them." With that, he leisurely drank his wine.

"Chen Fan?"

"Yes, him. He's incredibly powerful—so powerful that even I don't know just how powerful he is." There was a hint of emotion in Makarov's voice.

Since Makarov said Chen Fan was strong, then he had to be strong. She knew her Master would never joke about something like that. Makarov must have learned something, so she finally relaxed, and the smile on her face became even brighter.

"Master, would you like another cup?"

Seeing Mira's smile, Makarov knew she understood what he meant. He loudly said, "Sure, another cup!" The entire guild was astonished, unable to understand why their Master was so happy.

Chapter 23: Boss

Gray led Chen Fan onto a westbound train. They got off at a place Chen Fan didn't recognize and headed deep into the streets.

"Stop!" Chen Fan called out to Gray ahead of him, raising a hand.

"Hm? What is it now? All along the way, you've either been hungry or needed to use the bathroom. What is it this time?" Gray turned back impatiently.

Chen Fan did not feel embarrassed in the slightest. He held out his right hand, pointed his thumb at the people on the other streets, and said, "Don't you think I stand out too much dressed like this?"

Gray looked around. Quite a few people really were staring at Chen Fan and him. Although Chen Fan had kept a relatively low profile over the years, and this outfit was no longer exclusive to him, it was still rather eye-catching.

"Then I'll lend you my clothes." Gray spoke as he began taking off his clothes.

"What the—!"

Bang. Chen Fan kicked Gray, sending him flying.

"What are you doing?!" Gray shouted as he climbed back up. Chen Fan pointed at the clothes on the ground, then at the people nearby. Gray looked down and saw that everyone around him was watching him, whispering things like, "Pervert," "freak," and "exhibitionist."

"Ah, this is bad." He hurriedly picked up his clothes and put them back on, then looked at Chen Fan again.

Chen Fan looked left and right, then beckoned Gray over. "Follow me."

Gray had no idea what Chen Fan was up to, but he followed him anyway. They stopped in front of an extremely luxurious clothing store. On its sign was a checkmark. Gray knew it was the hottest brand at the moment, called Nike. It seemed to be a rather large enterprise.

After Gray followed Chen Fan inside, all the attendants stood in two neat rows and loudly shouted, "Hello, Boss!"

Gray was startled, but Chen Fan merely waved his hand and said, "Comrades, you've worked hard."
