Background / History

Esdeath was raised on the northern border as the chieftain's daughter of the Balutes Tribe, a people who hunted Danger Beasts. Her mother was eaten by a Super Danger Beast, and her tribe was later massacred by northern barbarians while she was away hunting. These losses cemented her belief that survival belongs to the strong and death is the fate of the weak. She eventually entered the Empire, viewing the hunting of humans as no different from hunting Danger Beasts. 1727

She became a feared Imperial general through repeated campaigns. Her reputation includes torturing captives and burying 400,000 minority-group people alive; her name alone inspires fear throughout the Empire. 1688

After suppressing northern rebels, Esdeath was recalled to the Imperial Capital to eliminate Night Raid. She requested six additional Teigu users and assembled the Jaegers for that purpose. 1688

Esdeath is sadistic, battle-hungry, and intensely convinced that strength determines a person's right to live. Esdeath possesses an ice-based Teigu created from the blood of a Super Danger Beast. After Chen Fan wins her tournament and Danger Beast hunt, Esdeath chooses him as her lover candidate and brings him into the Jaegers. His resistance to her dominance fascinates her, while his arguments about the value of all lives begin challenging her worldview. 1701 1710

Belic Assassination Conflict

Esdeath discovers Chen Fan's Night Raid affiliation during the operation against Belic. She attempts to force his obedience by threatening to eliminate Night Raid, then battles him directly when negotiations fail. 1750 1752
