Even the Landlord's Family Had No Grain Left

Zhou Yaling shot Candy a reproachful glance as she sighed.

"Don't act like you haven't got it good."

"Your big sister here was cooped up at home for two days. I even had to deal with the zoo—Xiao Huihui and Baozi. It's a win if they behaved themselves."

"By the way, that little tuft of yours is pretty distinctive."

Looking at the tuft of hair sticking up on Candy's head, Zhou Yaling smiled. It washed away some of her exhaustion from the day.

Candy had gotten used to her cowlick. She grinned, completely unbothered by the looks people gave her. Her big brother had said cowlicks were a sign of cuteness! She knew he was just trying to fool her, but he wasn't wrong about one thing: nobody thought a little kid's cowlick made them look worse. If anything, it made them cuter.

"Big Sister, why didn't I see Baozi and Xiao Huihui in the office? Did you leave them at home?"

Zhou Yaling hummed in agreement. She really hadn't brought the two little troublemakers with her.

The taxi driver hadn't been willing to let her bring pets along. Besides, Big White was at home, so the two little ones wouldn't go hungry.

"Aw, I was going to play with Xiao Huihui."

"Work ends in just over an hour. You'll see them then. All right, don't distract your big sister while she's working. I still have a pile of work to get through."

"Be good and go bother your brother instead."

Watching her sister busy with work, Candy felt as if she were being brushed off.

She did want to play with her brother, but he'd gone to the Second Laboratory Building. Besides, it was so hot outside. She wasn't silly enough to run out and bake in the sun.
