Background

Yi Chen was born into the Green Grass Tribe as the grandson of Nine Star General Yi Tenglong. Sickly from childhood and unable to hunt, he lost his support after his father's death and was expelled by his clansmen. He eventually reached Flame Mountain, surviving in a cave on wild fruit until a severe fever abruptly broke and he regained consciousness. 1

With no existing cultivation technique available to him, Yi Chen decided to create one himself. Drawing on ideas from the three thousand web novels he had read, he began sensing his Qi Sea, studying external energy, and testing circulation routes through meridians and acupoints. 1 2

His self-created path allowed him to survive starvation, improve his physical condition, and rapidly increase his strength. After joining the Flame Mountain Tribe, he earned overwhelming prestige through his combat ability and became its chieftain. 4 15 16 17

Appearance

Yi Chen is a fair-skinned young man with a handsome face and a comparatively slender build. His appearance differs sharply from the rugged, dark-skinned, heavily built beauty standard of the Exile Planet. 1 9

  • Fair skin and refined features despite being covered in dirt during his first appearance. 1
  • Slender rather than burly physique. 9
  • His growing strength and authority gradually give him an imposing, superior bearing. 132
  • Often remains in seclusion cultivating, researching techniques, or refining treasures. 68 134

Personality

Yi Chen is intensely focused, practical, and exceptionally self-directed. He places cultivation and the creation of new methods above social obligations, political maneuvering, or personal comfort; problems that cannot be solved simply are often postponed until he has time for them. 84

He is ambitious and increasingly authoritarian, but his rule is driven by development and control rather than arbitrary cruelty. He reforms institutions, promotes capable people, and punishes actions that endanger the tribe's growth or stability. 63 112 113

Despite his intimidating presence, Yi Chen does not indulge in empty arrogance. He values competence, tends to decide matters quickly, and has confidence that his strength allows him to dismantle and rebuild any power structure beneath him. 84 97

  • Initially perceives minute details within a one-meter radius. 100
  • Can manipulate the fluctuations of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy within his range. 109
  • Can control spiritual power outside his body, though preventing that power from dissipating requires further technique development. 109
  • Uses it to open doors, assess threats, communicate, and support combat. 197 302
  • Later developed a Divine Soul: an energy body shaped from Mind Consciousness and Divine Sense that can perform most Divine Sense functions. 209

Movement and Combat Arts

Yi Chen develops and refines movement and offensive techniques alongside his realm progression.

  • Flying Knife Art — An early ranged technique strengthened by his Spirit Release Realm breakthrough; he planned to replace it with more advanced arts. 14
  • Cloud Stepping Art — A movement technique that lets him fly and achieve supersonic speed, reaching 360 meters per second. 27 52 83
  • Heaven Severing Art — His principal sword-based offensive technique, capable of producing powerful Sword Qi. 53 452
  • Yi Chen can improve combat techniques during battle, as demonstrated while fighting a Level 50 Gale Wind Tiger. 156

Elemental and Law Manipulation

Yi Chen comprehends laws of heaven and earth and converts that understanding into techniques.

  • Created Earth Walls out of thin air, an ability that shocked both tribesmen and the wider Human Race. 74
  • Pursued a spell-type cultivation method capable of encompassing all elements. 55
  • Can stir Law Power through his Imposing Might after reaching the Profound Immortal Stage. 330
  • Studies the Fire Element Laws and later seeks to create a method for controlling Time Law Power. 134 709

  • Drew back luck he had previously slashed away to support his own cultivation without excessively disrupting planetary balance. 255
  • Bestowed substantial luck on Lin Yuehai for protection and wealth accumulation. 295
  • Drained the luck of twelve Earth Tree Race experts before preparing to ambush them. 606

Teleportation Technique

Yi Chen created a teleportation-type cultivation method that enables sudden repositioning in combat.

  • Vanished before a Ten Thousand Hands Race expert and reappeared roughly one hundred meters behind him. 453
  • Used teleportation to bypass an opponent's defenses and attack from an unexpected angle. 453
  • Can use the technique for rapid travel, including returning from Doctor Qi Li's location to Lin Yuehai's office in minutes. 333

Shapeshifting Technique

Yi Chen created the Shapeshifting Technique to conceal his Human Race identity while operating in Earth Tree Race territory.

  • Mimics another race's appearance and energy aura. 589
  • Was refined until Level 200 Marys could not detect flaws at close range. 589
  • Allows him to assume the form of a seventy-to-eighty-meter-tall Earth Tree Race being. 590
  • Cannot reliably deceive high-grade strength-testing treasures. 589

Weapon Forging, Formations, and Alchemy

Yi Chen researches tools and systems to strengthen himself and his forces.

  • Plans to combine formations with weapon forging to preserve spiritual materials and support cultivation. 159
  • Refined five types of spirit pills, including Mind Stabilizing Pills and Pro-Spirit Pills. 200
  • Developed the Spirit Gathering Array as a long-term project requiring extensive Law Runes and magic treasures. 200
  • Forges Immortal Artifacts, including an energy artifact that strengthens the Shapeshifting Technique. 589

  • Immortal Binding Rope — Used alongside the Mountains and Rivers State Diagram to capture a Ten Thousand Hands Race expert. 453
  • Flying Magic Treasure — Yi Chen's mobile base and transport; later refined for stealth and protected by a perception-blocking Defense Array. 165 286 517
  • Bodyguard Shield — Blocks perception as well as mental and spell attacks. 517 603
  • Storage Ring — Used to store captured enemies, spirit materials, and other resources. 302 303

Leadership and Rule

Yi Chen's earliest political objective in the Flame Mountain Tribe was to become chieftain. He shared the Chaos Art and Flying Knife Art with the tribesmen, but his larger aim was to establish durable authority through strength, knowledge, and institutional change. 17

He introduced spirit stones as currency and replaced collective food distribution with a family-centered system that rewarded labor. This shifted the tribe from tribal civilization toward an early national structure. 63

As the tribe expanded, Yi Chen established the General Political Department, appointed the High Priest as General President, and divided administration among Finance, Governance, and Personnel subdepartments. 112

He later dealt with the Human Federation from a position of strength, repeatedly refusing binding contracts while demanding “interest” for the Federation's unauthorized use of his cultivation methods. 323 324
