Background / History

Wei Kang inherited his parents’ pharmaceutical company after their deaths. By the time the story begins, failed research and financial losses have pushed the business toward bankruptcy, while Wei Kang himself is diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer and given less than a year to live. His circumstances change when he activates the Drug Side Effect Extraction System. 1

Using the system’s Newbie Gift Pack, Wei Kang extracts a cancer-cell-inhibiting side effect from a failed formula and creates a new anti-cancer drug.
