Clang—
The sound of steel colliding rang out. Leticia, who had struck in haste, was sent flying. Her shadow suddenly expanded in midair, transforming into broader wings that cushioned the force before she hit the ground.
"Demon of the Earth? Tch, you really do have an innate advantage when it comes to brute strength."
"You've got some skill, little girl."
Wesir looked at Leticia, who had blocked his attack, and grinned. Just as he was about to launch a second attack, the force of the gale stung his cheeks.
"Don't forget, there are two of us!"
Kasukabe Yō had somehow appeared at Wesir's side. With both hands, she controlled fierce winds and struck him squarely in the face.
Boom—
The blow drove Wesir deep into the ground, cracking the earth beneath him under the powerful impact.
"Are you all right, Leticia?"
Leaping over to Leticia, Kasukabe Yō asked with concern.
"I'm fine. I'm a vampire, after all."
Though she had suffered a minor injury just now, her powerful regeneration had quickly healed it.
After confirming that Leticia was unharmed, Kasukabe Yō sighed in relief and turned a solemn gaze toward the dust-filled area.
A glowing figure gradually emerged from within. It seemed that the previous blow had failed to hurt him at all.
"That was a decent hit, but I can't keep playing with you forever."
Rolling his neck, Wesir glanced at the city that had already transformed into Hamelin. He could more or less guess that the riddle had been solved.
With the advantage of his own territory as well, Wesir grinned, preparing to end the battle with his next attack.
"One strike to decide it?"
Leticia's mature form was nearing its limit as well. She smiled faintly at Kasukabe Yō. "Let's defeat him together."
"Mm, okay."
Though she did not know what Leticia was planning, Kasukabe Yō nodded in agreement out of trust in her companion.
Leticia then gripped the rear half of her knight's lance, leaving a gap as she began gathering power. Countless streams of dark crimson energy condensed within it.
Kasukabe Yō understood Leticia's intent as well. She grabbed the front half of the lance and poured the remainder of her strength into it.
"Take this, little girls! This is my full-power attack!"
Completely unconcerned by Leticia and Kasukabe Yō's charged attack, Wesir drew upon the power of the earth and gathered it around himself. Countless streams of dark gray energy overflowed, forming a layer of energy around his body like the front of a carriage.
The next moment, Wesir began sprinting at tremendous speed. The earth shook with every step as he charged toward Leticia and Kasukabe Yō like a war chariot.
This attack could not be avoided!
But Leticia and Kasukabe Yō had no intention of dodging. The Spear of Piercing had absorbed all their remaining energy, and its shaft began radiating a scarlet glow.
"Piercing—Killing Spear!"
The Killing Spear became a scarlet meteor, piercing through the earth's surface as it collided violently with the charging Wesir.
One possessed ultimate sharpness, determined to pierce through everything. The other possessed ultimate strength, determined to crush everything in its path.
"Hahaha, not bad, little girls!"
With a savage grin, Wesir raised his sturdy iron rod to meet the thrusting lance.
Screech—
Like a drill grinding against an iron plate, a piercing noise rang out as endless sparks burst from the point of impact.
In the clash, the Spear of Piercing, being a Gift, was clearly far more powerful than the nameless iron rod in Wesir's hands. After holding out for several seconds, the rod could no longer withstand the spear's power and began shattering inch by inch.
"Don't think you can defeat me that easily!"
Seeing his iron rod pierced and shattered, Wesir tossed it aside. Stomping both feet against the ground, he caught the attack directly with his steel-like hands.
Sizzle—
But how could a strike containing all of Leticia and Kasukabe Yō's strength be so easily stopped?
Countless streams of blood sprayed from Wesir's hands the instant they touched the Spear of Piercing, evaporating before they could even fall.
The lance that had pierced the earth slowly advanced toward Wesir's chest. At last, Wesir's long-enduring strength weakened slightly, and the Spear of Piercing punched straight through his chest. After piercing through several buildings, it nailed him directly to the church's cross.
"Cough, cough... I didn't expect to receive the treatment of the Holy Father."
After coughing up a pool of blood, Wesir pulled out the Spear of Piercing. Ignoring its struggles, he laughed wildly. "Now you have no weapon left, right?"
Bolstered by a Divine Spirit and being a demon born from a natural disaster, that attack clearly could not take Wesir's life.
"Did we lose?"
Leticia and Kasukabe Yō, who had barely managed to stand, looked at Wesir. He was clearly severely wounded, yet seemed unaffected, and their expressions darkened.
That attack had exhausted all of their strength.
And it still wasn't enough...
Crash—
The sound of glass shattering rang out. It was an ordinary sound on a battlefield, yet it made the excited Wesir's breathing stop.
"Bad... bad... man..."
A little blonde girl saw Wesir suddenly crash in. Though frightened, she overcame her fear, picked up a stone from the ground, and shattered the last stained-glass window in the church depicting a clown.
"So in the end, I was defeated by a little girl who hasn't even grown up yet."
The power within Wesir immediately dissipated. Those stained-glass windows were his anchors; once they were shattered, it was time for him to disappear.
The Divine Spirit granted by Hakoniwa was reclaimed, and Wesir's body turned into azure points of light that gradually faded away. He glanced at Leticia and Kasukabe Yō, who were running toward him, then shook his head with a smile. "Though I am a demon formed from the deed of harming 130 children, I wouldn't take my anger out on a little girl after already being defeated."
Leaving his final words behind in this world, he closed his eyes.
That was right. Harming 130 children was Wesir's deed, not his intention.
To put it another way, it was the River Weese that harmed 130 children. What did that have to do with me, Wesir?
At This Moment, I Shall Become the Sun That Dispels the Black Death
"Lily—"
The two hurried over and embraced the trembling Lily, quickly comforting her. "Lily, you were amazing! You defeated the demon that even we couldn't defeat."
"Really?"
"Of course it's true. If Lily hadn't broken the glass, we would have lost."
Smiling as they stroked Lily's head, Kasukabe Yō and Leticia exchanged a glance and smiled.
They had never expected to be saved in the end by Lily, who had no combat ability at all.
"Aah! If you've got the guts, fight Black Rabbit head-on! That's so underhanded!"
As time passed, the effects of the Mental Resistance buff had faded.
After all, those buffs were one-use only. Holding out under Ratin's flute for this long was already quite remarkable.
Whenever Black Rabbit tried to attack Ratin with full force, some Lesser Dragons would always rush over to block the attack.
This left Black Rabbit miserable. To prevent Mandara from committing suicide and the Black Death-infected civilians from being killed, Sandora had added rules prohibiting suicide and the killing of companions.
If she accidentally killed a companion, Black Rabbit would immediately violate the rules, and Hakoniwa would deem the Demon King victorious.
Ratin also knew full well that she was no match for a Hakoniwa noble, so she kept using the increasingly controlled Lesser Dragons to block attacks.
"Hehehe, I'm a demon. Isn't it perfectly normal for me to be a little underhanded?"
Ratin revealed a seductive smile. Not only did she not care about Black Rabbit's taunt, she even spoke proudly of it.
Black Rabbit was left speechless and could only take out the Vajra, summoning golden lightning to keep Ratin occupied.
Whoosh—
A fierce gust blew in as a Schroter that had slipped through the net arrived before Black Rabbit, sweeping a storm toward her.
Black Rabbit had not expected this at all and had no time to dodge. Just as she was about to be struck—
A massive Dean appeared before her, effortlessly blocking the attack.
"Sorry, Black Rabbit. I didn't expect that Schroter to get around me."
Standing atop Dean, Hisato Asuka wore an apologetic expression. After all, her task had been to hold back the Schroters.
"It's fine. Didn't you block it for me?"
Black Rabbit smiled faintly, unconcerned. Instead, she looked solemnly toward Ratin. This had merely been an accident, not something worth dwelling on.
The real trouble was still Ratin, who stood before them with a sweet smile.
"Oh my, little girl. Long time no see."
Upon seeing Hisato Asuka, Ratin greeted her with a smile. She rather liked this strong-willed girl.
It would be even better if she could become her companion.
"It certainly has been a long time."
Seeing the "enemy" who had once completely overwhelmed her standing before her again, a chill flashed through Hisato Asuka's eyes.
Enemies were especially hostile when they met. The sight of Ratin's smiling face made Hisato Asuka deeply irritated.
"Black Rabbit, leave this one to me."
"Huh? Then what am I supposed to do?"
Black Rabbit blinked in confusion, pressing a pale finger against her soft cheek.
Hisato Asuka pointed toward the civilians fleeing in panic as the buff wore off. "Go evacuate the crowd. You should be good at that, right?"
"But..."
"No buts. Leave this place to me."
Cutting off Black Rabbit's words, Hisato Asuka controlled Dean and swung at Ratin.
The immense force contained within its towering body blasted apart the ground.
Dust filled the air, while Hisato Asuka frowned at the Schroters surrounding her.
"What an excellent Gift. I really am growing fonder of you, little girl."
Ratin had somehow appeared atop a Schroter's shoulder, utterly unconcerned by Hisato Asuka's rough attack just now.
"Tch. But I don't like you."
Ignoring Ratin's verbal provocation, Hisato Asuka controlled Dean and threw another punch.
Ratin gave a light jump and easily dodged, landing atop another Schroter's shoulder.
Taking advantage of the gap after Hisato Asuka's attack, the remaining Schroters launched their assault. Endless gales and rainstorms became razor-sharp weapons and surged toward Hisato Asuka.
A sturdy barrier appeared before Dean, effortlessly blocking the Schroters' combined attack.
"What a nuisance. Dean, use that move!"
Watching the Schroters close in, Hisato Asuka crossed her arms and gave the command.
A crimson light flashed across Dean's azure single eye. Then, a scarlet beam shot from its eye.
The scarlet ray swept across every Schroter. The scorching beam melted every one of them in half, causing them to explode one after another.
Ratin, who had been standing on a Schroter, was unable to dodge in time and was caught in the explosion, tumbling to the ground in a bedraggled state.
"I'm not the same as before, Ratin."
Hisato Asuka confidently crossed her arms. The shockwave from the explosion lifted her long hair, giving her a somewhat dashing appearance.
"You really have grown much stronger." Ratin did not deny it. Brushing the dust from her body, she slowly rose and took out her flute, beginning to play.
Hisato Asuka did not stop her and simply stood atop Dean's head.
She could guess what Ratin was thinking. Ratin merely wanted to use her flute to bewitch Dean, turn it against her, and reverse the situation.
