The Soul Society's Development 3rd Division was an organization founded by Kisuke Urahara. It specialized in researching various support items and provided the Gotei 13 with a great deal of additional assistance.
Although it had been around for a relatively short time, it had become an important department of the Soul Society. It was overseen by the Gotei 13's 12th Division.
Under the 12th Division's research, the Soul Society now had its own monitoring system for abnormal spatial fluctuations. Whether a Hollow appeared in Rukongai or some other invasion took place, the system would report it.
Today, however, an invasion alarm suddenly sounded in the Development 3rd Division. A technician immediately ran toward the captain's laboratory.
Seeing a beautiful woman in a black bodysuit standing guard outside, the technician hurriedly called out,
"Vice-Captain Nemu, someone's invaded the Soul Society again! They didn't come through our Senkaimon!"
Though Nemu was the 12th Division's vice-captain, she showed no reaction to this serious warning.
She simply nodded coldly and said,
"I understand. You may leave. I'll inform Lord Mayuri."
The technician knew the captain and vice-captain's usual attitudes. Hearing her reply, he knew his responsibility was over, and promptly withdrew.
Only after he had left did Nemu respectfully enter the laboratory behind her.
Even though she tried to tread as lightly as possible, the moment she entered, a displeased, hoarse voice rang out.
"Didn't I tell you to stand guard and not disturb me? What is it?"
A handsome man with blue hair stepped out of a medicinal bath that looked like a bathtub, splashing water as he emerged.
Scars and signs of modification marked his body.
He was Mayuri Kurotsuchi, captain of the 12th Division and a research fanatic whose skills were second only to Kisuke Urahara!
