What's This About the Three Thousand Demon Gods Gathering? Chaos Is About to Fall into Turmoil?
After the contest ended, Lin Yue didn't return to the cave right away. Instead, he continued exploring around the rocky valley. He wanted to use this opportunity to get more familiar with the surroundings and hoped to find more resources that could aid his cultivation.
One day, as he made his way through a stone forest, he suddenly heard a faint whimpering from ahead. When he approached, he saw a low-level Chaos Creature resembling a fawn. Its hind leg was pinned beneath a huge boulder, and blood stained the ground around it. It looked to be in great pain.
Lin Yue's heart stirred. He stepped forward and used Chaos Energy to move the boulder aside. After the fawn-like creature was freed, it looked at him gratefully and sent a message through the unique mental power of Chaos Creatures: "Thank you, human."
"How did you get pinned under that rock?" Lin Yue asked curiously.
A trace of fear colored the fawn creature's mental message. "It was... those powerful beings were fighting. The shockwaves sent me flying here, and then I got pinned under the rock."
"Powerful beings?" Lin Yue frowned. "Chaos Fierce Beasts?"
"No." The fawn creature shook its head. "They're far more terrifying than fierce beasts. They call themselves... Demon Gods."
"Demon Gods?" Lin Yue's heart tightened. He had heard Pangu mention them before. The Demon Gods were among the most powerful beings in Chaos, each possessing the power to destroy heaven and earth.
"Why were they fighting?" Lin Yue pressed.
The fawn creature's mental message was filled with unease. "I heard other creatures say that the Three Thousand Demon Gods are about to gather at the center of Chaos. It seems they're going to fight over some kind of Chaos Core. Many Demon Gods are already slaughtering one another for territory and resources. Chaos is in an uproar, and low-level creatures like us are all looking for places to hide."
"The Three Thousand Demon Gods gathering? Fighting over the Chaos Core?" Lin Yue was deeply shaken. He didn't know what the Chaos Core was, but its name alone told him it was no ordinary thing. And just imagining all Three Thousand Demon Gods gathering sent a chill through him—it would surely be a calamity sweeping across all of Chaos.
He soothed the fawn creature with a few words and gave it several blocks of Chaos Energy to treat its wounds, then hurried back to the cave. This news was too important. He had to tell Pangu at once.
Back in the cave, Lin Yue told Pangu everything he had heard from the fawn creature, unable to hide his worry. "Senior, will the gathering of the Three Thousand Demon Gods be dangerous? Should we move somewhere safer?"
Pangu slowly opened his eyes. His deep gaze held not the slightest ripple, as if he had known about this all along. He said calmly, "There's no need to worry. Stay by my side, and you'll be safe."
Though Pangu's tone was calm, Lin Yue still felt uneasy. "But... they're Demon Gods. I heard they're incredibly powerful."
"No matter how powerful they are, there are rules." Pangu's voice remained even. "The gathering at the center of Chaos is a contest between Demon Gods. They wouldn't dare come after me here."
Seeing Pangu's confidence, Lin Yue's worries eased a little. He knew Senior Pangu's strength was unfathomable; perhaps he really could protect him.
But Lin Yue still noticed that after Pangu finished speaking, his fingertip twitched, and an invisible wave of energy spread out, enveloping the entire cave. Lin Yue could sense that the Stealth Array at the entrance had been strengthened. An almost imperceptible defensive barrier had also appeared around them, radiating a chilling aura.
"This barrier can withstand attacks from anything below a high-level Demon God," Pangu explained calmly, as if he had read Lin Yue's thoughts.
Lin Yue felt reassured. With the barrier in place, at least they wouldn't have to worry about being harassed by low-level Demon Gods or fierce beasts.
"What should we do next?" Lin Yue asked. "Just stay here?"
"Focus on your cultivation," Pangu said. "No matter how chaotic things get outside, improving your own strength is what matters most. Once you're strong enough, you can weather any storm."
Lin Yue nodded. He understood what Pangu meant. In Chaos, strength was the greatest protection. Instead of worrying about the wars outside, he might as well use this time to cultivate and grow stronger.
"I understand, Senior," Lin Yue replied respectfully.
In the days that followed, the Chaos Airflow around the cave seemed to grow more and more turbulent. Every so often, distant rumbles could be heard, clearly the result of powerful beings fighting. Yet inside the cave, all remained peaceful, protected by Pangu's array and barrier like a secluded paradise.
Lin Yue devoted himself entirely to cultivation. The turmoil outside only strengthened his resolve to grow stronger. He knew that only by improving his strength as quickly as possible could he survive in these troubled times and live up to Senior Pangu's protection.
His cultivation steadily improved, bringing him ever closer to the Late High-level Chaos stage. He also grew more adept at using the Chaos Little Light Orb, and could even condense orbs containing faint traces of the laws. They were several times more powerful than before.
Only occasionally, when he heard the distant, thunderous rumbles, would Lin Yue find himself looking out of the cave, sighing inwardly. It seemed Chaos really was about to fall into turmoil.
