The land along its banks was fertile, with vast stretches of good farmland. Golden waves of rice rolled in the breeze, their heavy ears of grain releasing a rich fragrance. Now and then, farmers could be seen moving among the fields, their faces bright with the joy of a bountiful harvest. Their laughter drifted on the wind and carried across the wilderness.

This was the heartland of the human race in the Primordial World: the land of the Yellow Flame Dragon Vein.

After the Witch-Demon Calamity, humanity broke free of the shackles of being the Demon Clan's prey and the Wu Clan's slaves. Under the indirect protection of Empress Nuwa and Lin Yue, they recovered, multiplied, and prospered. Over tens of thousands of years, through sheer perseverance, extraordinary capacity for learning, and a powerful ability to reproduce, humanity had grown from scattered tribes into large clans. Amid conflicts between those clans and incursions by outside enemies, they continually united their strength, eventually establishing two great dynasties spanning the Southern Continent and the Eastern Victory Divine Continent: the Yan Dynasty and the Huang Dynasty.

The Yan Dynasty took fire as its totem and inherited its legacy from Suirenshi, one of the Three Progenitors of humanity. Its people excelled at using fire and forging, and controlled the vast southern territories of the Southern Continent. Its capital, Fentian City, stood in the upper reaches of the Yellow Flame River.
