An old, hoarse voice came through the phone, sounding rather eerie and unsettling.
Amamiya Natsuki replied casually:
"Hello, we saw your flyer and would like to buy a house in Happy Community."
"Buy a house?" The trembling voice on the other end suddenly sounded more alert. "Young man, don't try to trick an old woman like me."
Amamiya Natsuki urged her on:
"We're right outside Happy Community. We'll wait ten minutes. If you don't come soon, we're leaving."
"Don't go. I'll be right there."
The call ended abruptly.
Only five or six minutes had passed when the Quail girl suddenly tugged nervously at Amamiya Natsuki's sleeve. She widened her eyes and stared at the dark street outside the community.
Amamiya Natsuki turned to look, narrowing his eyes slightly. Before long, he spotted a plainly dressed old lady hopping toward them along the eerily empty street. Her movements looked comical, but she was moving at a startling, ghostly speed.
"What is that?"
"Could it be coming for us?"
The other girls noticed something was wrong and grew more alert.
Fortunately, the old woman didn't attack. She stopped seven or eight meters away and spoke in a hoarse voice:
"Young man, are you the ones looking to buy a house?"
The old woman's familiar, aged voice was exactly the same as the one on the phone. Having confirmed her identity, Amamiya Natsuki stepped forward slightly.
"That's right. We're the ones buying a house."
The old woman approached and looked the group over. Her eyes were a startling, oily green, making her seem especially creepy. In a shrill voice, she asked:
"I've already written the price on the flyer, and it's not cheap. Are you sure you can afford it?"
