The players were about to set out to support the war in northern Genoa Peninsula. This should have been the perfect opportunity for the airship corps to shine, but unfortunately, only one of Transia's three armed airships remained.
Both the Ironheart Annihilator and the Merchant Dynasty had been severely damaged in the earlier mechanical rebellion. Though the halflings' factory was more than willing to help the players repair these mighty warships of the sky, once the damage assessment was complete and confirmed they weren't worth repairing, the two captains, Soymilk Whitepour and Selak Fanta, discussed it and decided to take the opportunity to build two new airships at Chardo Port's airship factory.
This time, they wanted their ships designed as standard armed airships from the outset, rather than retrofitted later.
Of course, the players couldn't possibly afford the airship orders on their own. So the two had submitted their report to Maxim, and the Monster General had approved it. The orders for both airships were only completed after a special appropriation was made from the People's Army Equipment Department under the pretext that they were weapons of war.
Though the ships were being built by halflings, the two captains had no intention of continuing to use halfling airship designs. They contacted the "professionals" at the arsenal and asked them to redesign the airships to better suit the fighting style of the Otherworldly Heroes.
At the usual rate of construction, it would take at least two or three months to finish both airships. So for this trip, the players would use airships rented from Chardo Port. The only intact combat airship, the Hammer of Murphy, would serve as their flagship, while the remaining seven airships would form a transport squadron and carry the players who would be deployed as the vanguard.
