They had learned plenty about the wonders of ghost ships from Baburo, the blabbermouth pirate, but unfortunately, they lacked the necessary skills and weren't exactly seasoned sailors, either. Asking them to change careers and become ghost captains would be asking a bit much.
That said, the Eight Demon Generals, who also had ghost ships, were reportedly planning to train Basha, the Water Demon, to become a proper ghost captain. She was a senior sailor in the real world, so this was right up her alley. Besides, her class was already that of a sorcerer, so taking on ghost captain as a second job wouldn't be much of a stretch.
