Murphy had been speculating about the source of Dusk's power for a long time. Ever since he obtained the Omniscient Device and learned that Dusk had stolen some of the "legacy" left behind by the Creator, he had been thinking about how to strike back.
Apart from discussing it with Triss during the occasional moments of wisdom, he had barely mentioned the matter to anyone else.
But Murphy had indeed come up with an idea.
A crude idea, a crazy idea, but perhaps also a good one.
"You know, Dusk is a cult devoted to 'Original Sin,' the shadow of the Warp. Their goal is to bring about the end of the world. Their members might each have their own schemes, but for now, they agree on the larger objective.
"A classic villainous organization: mysterious in structure, highly effective, skilled at staying hidden, and possessing an enormous network of connections."
Standing in the control room, Murphy took out the Omniscient Device and plugged it into the control console before him, verifying his identity and authorization to give himself ample support for what he was about to do. Then he spoke unhurriedly to Mosna at the other end of the line:
"I've fought them more than once or twice. They're formidable, but I've realized that in a fair fight, my allies and I wouldn't necessarily be at a disadvantage against them. But those bastards in Dusk have stolen a whole series of legacies from the Creator, and that's seriously disrupting the balance.
"The clearest example is how they interfered with and attacked the sunship during the Godslaying War. If we hadn't been lucky, and if the Creator hadn't left behind means of protecting the world, that attack could have caused a disaster.
"The power armor they later gave to Huxgeson also
