(An extra chapter for our brother 'Can't Get Up, Loves Naps' 3/5)
Tonight's "Ghoul Uprising" event was reaching its climax, and it was still just as popular on the forums.
Especially among the poor souls who'd been swarmed and killed by frenzied ghouls during this almost completely unexpected random event.
To get a little more involved, while other players fought ghouls and wraiths in the sewers and streets, they were frantically typing on the forums to "cheer them on." Meow Brother's crew led the charge.
On paper, this six-man squad was already one of the top teams among the players. Even a dangerous elite ambush shouldn't have been enough to take them out so easily. The problem was that, under the lead of the Gray Digger, these guys had blasted through the cavern wall at a weak point in the sewers.
That reckless move had left them facing thousands of ghouls head-on. There was no chance of running in a situation like that.
Even Avalon's watchful gaze couldn't keep them alive in that desperate predicament.
But the darkest irony of all was that the six strongest players had all died, while the two wimpy administrators—the Gray Digger and the Bricklayer—had survived by sheer chance.
That was mainly because the four veterans assigned to protect them had been alert and capable.
As soon as they realized something was wrong, they dragged the Gray Digger and the Bricklayer out of the sewers as fast as they could. Meanwhile, the players' natural talent for getting themselves killed had led Meow Brother's crew to insist on seeing what was hidden in the tunnels below. Those few minutes of delay had cost them their lives.
But it was no big deal.
One life every three days. For the players, this was a "consumable."
