Although Murphy had joked that old Edward was playing dirty by challenging a young upstart despite his status as an Elder, the old man's behavior was hard to defend. Still, Murphy accepted the gift he'd sent without hesitation.
After all, these were protective leathers handmade by the finest leatherworker on the continent. Their practical value wasn't even the point.
Just wearing them was like carrying around a priceless asset that wouldn't depreciate. If the little players ever got in over their heads and had to flee with Triss in tow, they could sell this suit of leather armor for a fortune almost anywhere.
It was roughly equivalent to the Rolex on a big shot's wrist: good for showing off, and if trouble came, it could be traded for some cash.
Of course, Murphy only grumbled about it in his head. Once he returned to his office, he quickly changed into the dark-red armor and, unable to resist admiring himself, conjured a mirror from spirit power.
Old Edward's craftsmanship was beyond reproach.
The entire set of armor fit Murphy perfectly. The material was soft yet tough, and so light he could barely feel it. It didn't restrict his movements at all.
The lack of a helmet was hard not to complain about. But given how excellent the armor was—and how a helmet would hide Murphy's handsome face—it wasn't a flaw he couldn't overlook.
He rested his fingers on the armor belt fastened around his waist, and the item's information popped up before him:
