After returning to the Sun Moon Holy Cult from Hangzhou, Hao Shuai began a life of wits and courage with Dongfang Bai on Black Wood Cliff.
At last, one night, Hao Shuai successfully launched a night raid and hit a home run with Dongfang Bai.
Over the next few days, Dongfang Bai, a mature woman who had finally gotten a taste for it, transformed into a reckless driver. Every day, she took Hao Shuai on wild rides, as if trying to make up for all the time they'd missed.
After this went on for a week, Hao Shuai rubbed his aching back and returned to the real world.
In a rented apartment in the real world
Hao Shuai lay on the bed, deciding to spend the next few days resting in the real world. He didn't dare go to the Night Shift World, either. His back really couldn't take it anymore. He hadn't expected Dongfang Bai to be so domineering in personality—and just as domineering behind the wheel. She'd nearly thrown this seasoned driver right out of the car.
Thinking back to when he'd first obtained the Chaos Bead, only half a month had passed in the real world, yet he'd already spent more than a year in other worlds. Hao Shuai felt as though everything had changed. It seemed the real world was no longer the right place for him to stay.
Over the next few days, Hao Shuai first went to his former company to complete the paperwork for his resignation. He'd taken half a month of sick leave, and now he was officially quitting. He also checked on the progress of the renovations to his villa, then spent each day cooped up in his rented apartment watching movies and anime.
After resting for a few days, Hao Shuai vanished from the apartment once more!
Nighttime in Raccoon City, in the Resident Evil World
The moment Hao Shuai appeared, he immediately wrapped himself in telekinetic power. He wasn't sure where he was in the timeline or whether the virus had been released yet, so he decided to keep himself protected.
Only after setting up his telekinetic defenses did Hao Shuai realize he was standing in front of a typical two-story American house.
The house was completely dark. Hao Shuai pushed open the front door and called out, "Hello! Is anyone here?"
When no one answered, Hao Shuai began looking around the house.
When Hao Shuai spotted that familiar face in a picture frame in the upstairs living room, he knew where he was!
This house had to be the entrance to The Hive from the movie. The doors and windows were still intact, so the story probably hadn't begun yet. The current point in time was likely during the four hours when Alice had been unconscious in the bathroom.
After all, the places Hao Shuai traveled to were random, but there was a pattern: they were usually near the events of the story, never too far away.
As for time, Hao Shuai still couldn't control it, so he usually arrived before the story began.
When it came to Resident Evil, what Hao Shuai remembered most wasn't the zombies or the Lickers. It was the scene at the beginning of the movie. He still remembered Alice lying naked and unconscious in the bathroom, with only a piece of white cloth covering some of her most private areas. It had been incredibly enticing. The first time he'd watched that scene, Hao Shuai had replayed it several times.
Now that he was in the Resident Evil World, and the Goddess of his youth was lying right there, Hao Shuai felt he'd be letting himself down if he didn't do something, even though he hadn't planned to make Alice part of his harem.
Once the thought occurred to him, Hao Shuai immediately began searching the house for the bathroom.
A few minutes later, Hao Shuai finally found the bathroom door. The soft patter of running water had guided him there.
He pushed open the bathroom door and saw Alice lying naked in the bathroom, covered with a white cloth.
Hao Shuai stepped forward and pulled away the obstructing cloth. Looking at Alice, a less-than-noble thought flashed through his mind.
The longer he looked, the stronger that thought became.
More than an hour later, a satisfied Hao Shuai went into the bathroom and took a shower. By then, Alice was wearing her iconic red dress.
When Alice saw Hao Shuai come out, she stepped forward and grabbed his arm. "Who are you? And who am I? Why can't I remember anything?"
"You lost your memory too? When I woke up, I saw the two of us lying naked in bed, holding each other. I thought we were married, so..." Hao Shuai said.
"What? You lost your memory too? And you still did that?" Alice asked skeptically.
"Come on. Even if I've lost my memory, I'm still a man! How could I not react when I'm holding a gorgeous woman like you?" Hao Shuai said, pretending to be clueless.
Alice found Hao Shuai's shamelessness exasperating and couldn't be bothered to deal with him. She walked straight out of the bedroom, intending to find something in the house that could prove who she was. Hao Shuai followed right behind her.
Bang!
A stun grenade smashed through the window and landed inside. Hao Shuai closed his eyes and wrapped himself in telekinetic power. The mercenaries were about to make their entrance.
Hao Shuai had considered using force to make James and the other mercenaries cooperate and help him enter The Hive to retrieve the main computer. But he knew nothing about the high-tech equipment inside. If they refused to cooperate and teamed up to trick him, he wasn't afraid of them, but he was worried they might interfere with his getting the main computer. So for now, he could only play along.
As Hao Shuai was thinking, several mercenaries in combat gear smashed through the floor-to-ceiling window and charged in. One of them immediately aimed his gun at Hao Shuai, who raised both hands to show he would cooperate. The others spread out and began searching the house.
Before long, the mercenaries returned, escorting a white man. One look was enough for Hao Shuai to know it had to be Matt. He was just surprised Matt had made it to the house already.
Hao Shuai glanced at Alice and saw the mercenary captain, James, questioning her. Alice couldn't answer a single question. The medic explained to the captain that she might be suffering from amnesia.
"Who are you?"
The captain walked over to Hao Shuai, crouched down, and asked in a low voice.
"I don't know who I am, either. When I woke up, I was lying in bed with her." Hao Shuai pointed at Alice and answered sincerely.
"The computer has no records of him," said Kaplan, the mercenaries' tech specialist.
By then, Matt had finished being questioned as well.
"We don't have much time. Should we lock them up?"
James took off his mask. "No. Take them all with us."
The person standing beside him and holding him also removed her mask. She was a woman—probably Rain.
"Stay close to me!"
Hao Shuai and Matt were handcuffed and escorted forward by the mercenaries.
Kaplan opened a large door, and the group filed inside. After descending a flight of steps, they entered a vast, open area. Boxes were piled on the floor. A track and a subway car stood nearby, marked with the Umbrella logo.
The train was ready to go, and everyone hurried aboard.
Alice found a seat, and Hao Shuai sat down beside her. She didn't object.
As the train moved, Rain opened the door at the rear of the car. There was a man inside.
The medic stepped forward and held a special antidote under his nose. Then he began examining and questioning him. When Hao Shuai saw the man, he understood. This had to be Spence, the culprit behind the Resident Evil outbreak!
Hao Shuai couldn't be bothered to deal with him just yet. Once he got what he wanted, he'd send him straight to meet God!
"Lie still. Don't move," the medic said, examining him with a flashlight. "Look at this light. Follow it with your eyes."
"Okay." After confirming that Spence was conscious, the medic held up three fingers and asked, "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Spence looked pained. "Three!"
"Good!" The medic continued, "Now tell me your name."
Spence thought for a moment, then widened his eyes. "I... I don't know."
"He's fine." The medic turned to James. "He has amnesia, just like those two."
As the medic questioned Spence, Alice seemed to lose focus for a moment. Memories began surfacing in her mind.
