Background

The Heaven Severing Saber began as Su Chen’s Steel Saber, which had become too light for Su Chen’s growing strength. The Demon Slayer Sword reforged it with rare materials over three days, producing a thousand-pound Half-Divine Weapon. After Su Chen’s blood-essence sacrifice established their connection, he named it the Heaven Severing Saber 211.

Old Mo and Li Mu'e later reforged the saber into an intermediate Divine Weapon in a cave guarded by Su Chen. The blade immediately answered Su Chen’s call and proved slightly stronger in aura than the Serpent Spear 234.

While Su Chen tempered himself with the Nine Revolutions Glazed Flame, the saber demanded the same treatment. The process awakened its spiritual consciousness, enabling private mind-to-mind communication with Su Chen and revealing its ability to take in Martial Dao Truths. Together, they chose Martial Dao Mountain’s Ten Directions Martial Stele as the safest source of Truth for its growth 276 277.

Heaven Severing Saber is proud, blunt, and quick-tempered. He reacts aggressively to being called a “broken saber,” eagerly challenges opponents, and takes obvious satisfaction in defeating or refining enemies 358 374.

Despite his arrogance, he is deeply loyal to Su Chen. He guards Su Chen during cultivation, warns him of danger, shares intelligence gained from refined enemies, and seeks strength partly so that he can protect Su Chen rather than be protected by him 276 356 379.
