"You..."
Just as Chu He was about to speak, Kachi cut him off with a barrage of accusations.
"I'm Xia Yao's best friend! What you did to her in the dream was unforgivable!"
"Listen to me..."
"You humans are too bold! Do you know how much Xia Yao hates men?" Kachi put her hands on her hips, standing on tiptoe, trying to appear more imposing. "Forget touching her, just looking at her for more than three seconds would turn you to ash!"
"While you do look decent, if she knew that in the dream you not only looked at her, but touched her, and... and slept with her..."
"And so frequently! Thirty years! Except for the year she was pregnant, you two haven't had a single peaceful day!"
As she spoke, Kachi's delicate little face turned bright red, but her star-like eyes glittered with unusual excitement.
"Let me explain, we..."
"No, no!" Kachi shook her head vigorously, like a petulant child. "The evidence is conclusive, what else do you need to explain!"
Suddenly, she dropped all pretense, her small face stern, and spoke in a businesslike tone: "To tell you the truth, I've backed up your dreamscape. If you don't want me to show it to my best friend, you have to agree to one condition."
"Now!"
"Immediately!"
"At once!"
She puffed out her small chest and, word by word, presented a request that caught Chu He completely off guard.
"Kiss me, just like you kissed Xia Yao in the dream!"
No one knew how she endured those thirty years, watching her best friend have a sweet, passionate romance every night in the dreamscape.
No one knew how many pairs of underwear she had secretly changed in those thirty minutes.
Chu He stood frozen in place.
This development was utterly absurd, more absurd than anything he could imagine.
After going through all that trouble, making threats and intimidation, this was the ultimate goal?
He understood instantly.
Kachi wasn't actually angry at all; she was just a gossip who loved to stir up trouble.
She didn't know his true relationship with Xia Yao and still perceived her best friend as someone unapproachable.
Thinking this, Chu He didn't feel offended; instead, he found it rather amusing.
"Pfft."
He couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle.
This laugh startled the previously aggressive Kachi, who looked at him with confusion. "Hey, Dragon Country human, what are you laughing at? Are you scared witless?"
"It's nothing," Chu He shook his head, looking at her with a hint of playfulness in his eyes. "You're Xia Yao's best friend, I know that."
He paused, then stated the latter half of his sentence in a calm, matter-of-fact tone.
"But I am Xia Yao's man."
As soon as he finished speaking, Kachi's gaze shifted instantly from scrutiny and curiosity to deep pity and sympathy.
It seemed this human had gone mad and was talking nonsense.
"Why... why are you looking at me like I'm an idiot?" Chu He felt a prickle of unease under her stare.
"If you're not an idiot, then who is?" Kachi sighed, looking at him with the air of someone feeling sorry for a pitiable creature. "You still claim to be Xia Yao's man? Haven't you woken up from your dream, or did the fever fry your brain?"
As she spoke, she actually floated closer, reaching out her fair, tender hand to feel Chu He's forehead.
However, the moment she neared Chu He, her movements stiffened abruptly.
Her small nose twitched instinctively.
An extremely familiar scent entered her nostrils.
It was Xia Yao's scent!
There was no mistaking it!
Kachi's star-like eyes narrowed sharply!
She couldn't hold back anymore and let out a curse.
"Holy crap, you're not serious, are you?"
Chu He: "Yeah, we were lying together right before we came to the library!"
The air seemed to freeze for a second after his words.
This time, it was Kachi who was stunned.
Her star-like eyes were fixed on Chu He, as if searching his face for any trace of a lie.
After several long seconds, she gasped sharply, a flash of lightning striking her mind!
No wonder!
No wonder Xia Yao in the dreamscape felt so unbelievably real! That overbearing possessiveness, that peculiar way of thinking… apart from her clingy and tsundere temper, which she hadn't seen before… it wasn't fabricated out of thin air at all!
So, this man before her was using a real person as a model for his dream!
Once she understood this, Kachi's gaze towards Chu He completely changed.
She leaned forward, her small face filled with uncontrollable excitement and curiosity, lowering her voice by eight degrees, like a sly little fox.
"How… how did you two meet?"
Chu He looked at her gossipy expression and found it a bit amusing, so he replied truthfully, "It's a long story. We met yesterday afternoon, and then we ended up living together that night."
"Boom—!"
Chu He's words were like a bombshell exploding in Kachi's mind!
Her small mouth gaped wide enough to fit an egg, and her entire body froze.
Yesterday afternoon… they met?
That night… they were living together?
Damn it! Was this still her best friend who viewed men as dirt and vowed to live alone forever?
This was moving too fast, like a wish-fulfillment novel coming to life?
Kachi's brain crashed for a full thirty seconds before it struggled to reboot.
She looked at Chu He, an unprecedented light shining in her eyes, and grabbed his sleeve.
"You absolutely must tell me every single detail!"
Just then, the Dream Gate rippled again, and a blonde, blue-eyed foreign survivor walked out in a daze, followed by a second, then a third…
Kachi immediately panicked.
She didn't want these ordinary people interrupting her gossip session!
With a wave of her small hand, a blank card flew to the consultation desk, and a line of blood-red characters automatically appeared on it: [Trial ended, return to your dorms. Do not touch anything on the bookshelves, or you will bear the consequences!]
After doing all this, she didn't even glance at the trembling survivors. She grabbed Chu He's wrist and ran behind the consultation desk.
"Follow me!"
She pushed open an inconspicuous small door and pulled Chu He inside.
The space behind the door opened up suddenly.
This was Kachi's private room.
It was less of a room and more of an observation deck built within the starry sky. The entire space had no walls; on all sides were slowly flowing, brilliant rivers of stars, with countless stars flickering within reach.
The floor was paved with an unknown black crystal, which felt warm and smooth like jade underfoot, reflecting the starlight from above.
In the center of the room was a ridiculously large, circular soft bed. The deep purple velvet sheets were piled high with throw pillows of various materials and colors, like a soft island.
Directly above the bed hung a canopy made of countless tiny crystals, refracting the starlight and scattering dreamlike patterns of light.
"Sit!" Kachi pointed to the large bed, then eagerly jumped onto it herself, settling into a comfortable pile of pillows. She then produced a brand-new hardcover notebook and a quill pen as if by magic.
She sat cross-legged, spread the notebook on her lap, and looked at Chu He with an extremely expectant gaze, urging him, "Hurry and speak! Tell me from when you first met!"
Chu He looked at the scene and, recalling Kachi's gossipy nature, was momentarily unsure what to say.
He thought about it. There was nothing to hide about his relationship with Xia Yao, and bringing her SSS-Class best friend to his side would be nothing but beneficial.
So, he recounted everything, exactly how he came to this world, how he met Xia Yao, and how their relationship developed to its current stage.
Kachi listened with sparkling eyes, her quill pen flying across the notebook with a "swish-swish," occasionally exclaiming "Ooh!" or covering her mouth to giggle "hee-hee," her short legs kicking excitedly back and forth.
What most piqued her interest and curiosity was Chu He's mysterious kiss, which actually had the effect of gaining abilities from an Anomaly Core!
Not only was she staring at Chu He's lips with desire, wondering what it would be like to kiss him, but it was also something that made Xia Yao so infatuated!
