Background / History

Kachi first appears in the library as the controller of the Dream Gate. She sends survivors into dreamscapes that can encompass thirty years of perceived time and observes their experiences through manifested screens. Because she creates dreams, she can also see their contents; this lets her discover Chu He's dream of a life with her best friend, Xia Yao. 20 21

Initially furious over Chu He's dream relationship with Xia Yao, Kachi leverages her knowledge of the dream as blackmail and demands a kiss. The encounter grants Chu He access to her Space Manipulation ability, beginning their unusual bond. 22 24 She later makes her feelings for him public, provoking a destructive confrontation with Xia Yao before the two reconcile and agree to share him. 31 32 37
