At noon, Su Yu stepped into the Inner Sect Main Hall.
Sunlight streamed through the glazed dome, casting dappled shadows on the floor.
He approached the Inner Sect attendant on duty at the entrance and cupped his hands in greeting, asking, "Senior Brother, where can I pick up Sect Missions?"
The attendant glanced up, appraising the newly promoted disciple, and pointed to the left side of the hall. "The mission boards are over there. Feel free to take a look."
After thanking him, Su Yu walked toward the designated area, his eyes widening slightly at the sight before him.
Nine walls of white marble stood in a row, each covered with yellowed parchment.
The wall on the far right was as clean as new, completely devoid of any mission postings.
The further left he went, the denser the papers became, until the ninth wall was so covered in stacked mission slips that it was almost completely obscured.
What a unique design...
Su Yu mused inwardly, his gaze falling upon the blank wall.
Just as he was about to examine the mission details on the adjacent wall, a clear yet hesitant voice called out from behind him:
"Su... Senior Brother."
The hesitant call made Su Yu turn around.
In the morning light, Yunxi stood three steps away, clad in a moon-white dress, her slender fingers unconsciously twisting the jade pendant at her waist.
She seemed to have just undergone an internal struggle, a faint blush still lingering on her fair cheeks.
"According to sect rules..." she pursed her lips. "I should call you Senior Brother."
Su Yu realized.
Although Yunxi had joined the sect a year before him, according to Inner Sect seniority, she was indeed required to address him as such.
"Senior Brother Su, are you here to pick up a mission too?" Yunxi asked softly. "Unfortunately, the Level 1 missions are still empty today."
Su Yu followed her gaze to the blank wall. "Level 1 missions?"
"Is this your first time here?" Yunxi's eyes flickered with understanding, and she patiently began to explain. "Sect missions are divided into two main categories: daily tasks issued by the various internal halls and pavilions, and training missions commissioned from outside. They are categorized into nine levels based on difficulty. The first wall on the right is the Level 1 mission wall."
She gestured to the walls. "Level 1 missions are mostly chores like weeding the Spirit Plant Garden or tending the fires in the Alchemy Pavilion. Although the rewards aren't high, they are safe. So, disciples who have just entered the Inner Sect rush to take them, and they're usually claimed within moments of being posted."
"I see." Su Yu nodded and thanked her.
Su Yu gazed at the hastily written characters on the parchment:
Mission Content: Collect one Magic Wind Wolf fang. Yao Beast Level: Level 2 Low-tier Mission Difficulty: Level 2 Mission Reward: 500 Low-grade Spirit Stones 200 Sect Contribution Points
He narrowed his eyes slightly, carefully weighing the options in his mind.
With his current strength, ordinary Spirit Condensation Realm second-layer Martial Artists were no match for him.
Even against a third-layer Spirit Condensation Realm cultivator, he could hold his own for a while without using Nascent Sword Intent. If he unleashed his full Nascent Sword Intent, he might even have a chance to kill them.
Magic Wind Wolf... Su Yu murmured, recalling memories of this type of Yao Beast.
As a Level 2 low-tier Yao Beast, its strength was roughly equivalent to a human third-layer Spirit Condensation Realm Martial Artist.
However, most Yao Beasts at Level 2 preferred to live alone and rarely appeared in groups, so he didn't have to worry about being ambushed by a pack.
More importantly, this mission suited him perfectly.
Ever since he discovered that Level 1 Beast Cores had significantly reduced effects on his Spirit Condensation Realm cultivation, he had been in urgent need of Level 2 Beast Cores to accelerate his progress.
If he could successfully kill the Magic Wind Wolf, he would not only complete the mission but also obtain a valuable Level 2 Beast Core, killing two birds with one stone.
Just as he was about to tear off the mission slip, a flippant voice suddenly interjected:
"This junior sister, you look unfamiliar. Are you a newly promoted Inner Sect disciple?"
A man in a brocade robe strode over, his jade pendant jingling.
He had handsome features, but they were tinged with a certain ostentatious air. His gaze was fixed directly on Yunxi, completely ignoring Su Yu standing beside her.
"I am Shen Feng, third-layer Spirit Condensation Realm, ranked 180th in the Inner Sect." He raised his chin slightly, his tone carrying obvious pride.
As a mid-tier disciple of the Inner Sect, this ranking was indeed enough to make the newly admitted junior disciples look up to them.
Yunxi.
The young woman in white simply stated her name faintly and said no more.
Her gaze remained fixed on the mission order in Su Yu's hand, and she said softly, "Senior Disciple Su, as far as I know, the Magic Wind Wolf's strength is comparable to a third-level Spirit Condensation Realm Martial Artist..."
Shen Feng's face stiffened.
Based on past experience, most new junior disciples would show admiration after hearing his ranking.
However, this one before him was so indifferent, and instead, she was chatting happily with the mere first-level Spirit Condensation Realm kid beside him.
"This junior disciple..."
He turned to Su Yu, his tone laced with sarcasm.
"The Magic Wind Wolf is not something someone like you, who has just entered the Spirit Condensation Realm, can handle. Don't throw your life away just to show off in front of a junior disciple."
Su Yu didn't even lift his eyelids. He directly took down the mission order, nodded at Yunxi, and said, "Thank you for the reminder, I know what I'm doing."
With that, he turned and left.
Seeing this, Yunxi also gave Shen Feng a slight nod, "Senior Disciple Shen, I have other matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave now."
Before her voice even faded, she had already drifted away, leaving behind only a faint, lingering fragrance.
Shen Feng stood in place, his expression shifting between anger and uncertainty.
Quite a few disciples around had already noticed the commotion, and their hushed whispers made him feel like he was being pricked by needles.
He clenched his fists tightly, his fingernails digging deeply into his palms.
"Ungrateful wretch..."
He stared in the direction Su Yu had left, a hint of malice flashing in his eyes.
"A brash kid who just entered the Inner Sect dares to be so arrogant."
