Ch. 1The Child

Lu Cang awoke in a dangerous dungeon in a child’s body after apparently being transported to another world. Kumiloni and Izpalut healed him and decided to take him along, while he wondered whether their level-five party was really strong.

  • Lu Cang woke weak and disoriented among dungeon walls, then Kumiloni healed him with magic.
  • Izpalut suspected Lu Cang might be a monster in disguise, but Lu Cang insisted he was human and Izpalut revealed he was joking.
  • When Izpalut asked where his home was, Lu Cang remembered his parents and began crying before realizing he had become a child.
  • Izpalut assumed Lu Cang’s village might have been destroyed and offered to take him along with the party.
  • Izpalut introduced himself and Kumiloni as level-five adventurers and said Lu Cang would meet Obades and Chicheng later.

Ch. 2Mage

After Izpalut and Kumiloni found Lu Cang in the dungeon, they brought him along as their fifth adventuring companion and celebrated with a victory feast. The next day, Kumiloni began Lu Cang’s first job change, preparing to awaken his Mage power.

  • Izpalut and Kumiloni met Chicheng and the Stone Person after clearing the dungeon and shared the treasure they had found.
  • Izpalut decided to take Lu Cang on their travels and teach him magic, while Chicheng welcomed him as their fifth member.
  • Lu Cang woke after the victory feast, and Kumiloni healed his hangover and asked about his homeland, China.
  • Kumiloni explained that Lu Cang needed a job to control magic and used a Portable Job Change Scroll to begin awakening his Mage power.
  • Lu Cang stood in the magic array and saw colorful lights as Kumiloni called upon the elements and Arcane.

Ch. 3Divine Proficiency Evolution

Lu Cang completed his class advancement into a Level 1 Mage and awakened the god-tier talent Proficiency Evolution. Excited to learn magic, he asked Iz to teach him, but Iz handed him a book instead.

  • Lu Cang sensed the elements during the class advancement ceremony and formed a ball of fire in his hand.
  • Kumiloni confirmed that Lu Cang had successfully advanced to Mage and praised his magic talent.
  • Lu Cang discovered that leveling up would grant him a talent effect to evolve into a god-tier talent, and he revealed his Proficiency Mastery talent to Kumiloni and Iz.
  • Iz demonstrated the first-tier Lightning Strike Technique, blasting a massive tree into charred remains.
  • Lu Cang asked Iz to teach him the spell, and Iz told him to start by reading magic books.

Ch. 4Lightning Strike Technique

Lu Cang learned the Lightning Strike Technique and rapidly improved it through repeated casting, shortening its chant until he could cast it without speaking. He unleashed increasingly powerful bolts across the clearing before dizziness overtook him.

  • Lu Cang accepted Iz’s magic book and read the Lightning Strike Technique chant.
  • Iz gave Lu Cang a Magic Wand, and Lu Cang cast the spell successfully on his first attempt.
  • Kumiloni explained that mages normally studied a spell and practiced its magic flow before casting it, while Lu Cang’s talent let him master it unusually quickly.
  • Lu Cang shortened the chant with each casting, eventually casting the Lightning Strike Technique without a chant and increasing its power.
  • Lu Cang repeatedly struck the clearing with lightning until he suddenly felt dizzy and his vision darkened.

Ch. 5Overcasting

Lu Cang recovered after overcasting and traveled with Iz, Kumiloni, Chicheng, and Obades to Rhein Town, where he learned more about his companions and saw Iz welcomed by local mages. Kumiloni treated Lu Cang as a new member of their team, and Iz left to answer the mages’ questions.

  • Lu Cang woke in the carriage, and Iz explained that he had overcast by casting spells without mana but had been saved by Kumiloni’s treatment and Iz restoring his mana.
  • Lu Cang asked where they were, and Chicheng said they were nearing Rhein Town and invited him to consider becoming a Warrior, but Kumiloni argued that he should focus on his promising magic talent.
  • Obades announced their arrival, and Lu Cang discovered that the carriage was pulled by four Dragon Rhinos that served as the group’s mounts.
  • Kumiloni introduced a Dragon Rhino to Lu Cang and said they would need another mount now that he had joined them.
  • Young mages gathered around Izpalut in town to ask him questions, and he went with them into a nearby building to offer guidance.

Ch. 6Magic Tide

Alone in his room, Lu Cang received Izpalut’s guidance on increasing his mana and learned the Magic Tide technique from Izpalut’s textbook. As Lu Cang practiced, his mana and the technique’s proficiency rose rapidly, astonishing Izpalut.

  • Lu Cang returned to the inn, ate with Kumiloni and the others, and settled into his own room for the first time.
  • Izpalut visited Lu Cang and told him that he needed to increase his total mana.
  • Izpalut gave Lu Cang his self-compiled textbook, whose first chapter taught the Magic Tide technique for Level 1 mages.
  • Lu Cang followed the instructions and learned Magic Tide, increasing his mana by about five percent with a single tide.
  • Izpalut was amazed that Lu Cang mastered Magic Tide from its opening guidance, while Lu Cang’s proficiency continued climbing with every breath.

Ch. 7Magic Limit

Lu Cang learned and rapidly strengthened Magic Tide, an enhancement technique that increased his magic power by drawing in surrounding elements. He reached his magic power bottleneck almost immediately, just as Izpalut had warned he would.

  • Lu Cang discovered that Divine Proficiency Evolution multiplied proficiency gained from using and understanding skills, and that Magic Tide grew stronger as its level increased.
  • Lu Cang gained about 200,000 proficiency by reading the theory of Magic Tide and learned its simplified version, raising the skill to level 74.
  • Iz explained that Lu Cang could not safely learn a Tier 2 Magic Enhancement Technique until he became a Level 2 Mage.
  • Lu Cang noticed that his magic power had stopped increasing and told Izpalut that he had reached the bottleneck.

Ch. 8Ice Spike, Fireball, Wind Blade Technique

Lu Cang reached the mana limit of a level 1 mage, and Iz advised him to break through it before leveling up. After Iz left him three spellbooks, Lu Cang practiced Ice Cone Technique through the night and rapidly raised its level.

  • Lu Cang asked Iz whether he could level up, and Iz explained the benefits of breaking through his mana limit first.
  • Iz told Lu Cang he would take him to a dungeon the next day, then took back Magic Enhancement and warned him against learning forbidden spells.
  • Iz left Lu Cang the Ice Cone, Fireball, and Wind Blade spellbooks before leaving for the night.
  • Lu Cang learned Ice Cone Technique and discovered that he could cast it repeatedly without cooldowns, though he could only cast one spell at a time.
  • Lu Cang practiced Ice Cone Technique through the night as Magic Tide restored his mana, raising the spell to level 71.

Ch. 9Alone

Lu Cang trained his spells while Iz decided to personally develop him into a great mage and take him to a low-level dungeon. After grieving for his lost home and sleeping, Lu Cang woke feeling steadier, put on a mage’s robe, and left his room.

  • Lu Cang switched to Fireball and trained it alongside Ice Cone Technique and Wind Blade Technique until all three reached LV:80, while Magic Tide rose to LV:99.
  • Iz praised Lu Cang’s exceptional magical talent and decided to train him personally; he planned to take Lu Cang to the level 2 Dark Jungle dungeon the next day.
  • Lu Cang grieved over his separation from his parents and hometown, then cried himself to sleep.
  • Lu Cang woke the next morning feeling less overwhelmed, recognized Iz’s kindness, and put on the Thousand Silk Robe Kumiloni had given him.
  • After checking the time, Lu Cang left his room at ten o’clock.

Ch. 10Guidance

Lu Cang registered as an adventurer and joined Iz’s team before accepting a commission to clear Shadow Cave. Outside town, Iz began teaching him to improve his Ice Spikes, and Lu Cang’s Ice Cone Technique proficiency surged.

  • Lu Cang met Iz, Kumiloni, and Chicheng in the inn lobby as Kumiloni, Chicheng, and Obades prepared to leave for a subjugation quest without Iz.
  • Iz took Lu Cang to the Adventurer’s Guild, where Xili registered him as a beginner adventurer and added him to Iz’s team.
  • Iz accepted a commission to clear Shadow Cave after Xili showed him the available second-tier dungeon quests.
  • Iz carried Lu Cang out of town on a Dragon Rhino and explained how to find commissions and practice spells safely.
  • Lu Cang fired five Ice Spikes into a tree, and Iz advised him on improving their rotation and spreading their cold.
  • Lu Cang’s Ice Cone Technique proficiency increased by 1,000,000, reaching level 82.

Ch. 11Shadow Cave

Lu Cang refined the Ice Cone Technique through experimentation and Iz’s guidance, developing new variations and reaching LV:90 proficiency. He and Iz arrived at Shadow Cave and entered its dark passage.

  • Lu Cang gained the Harder Ice, High-Speed Rotation, and Ice Splash effects by precisely controlling and firing his Ice Spikes.
  • Lu Cang merged five Ice Spikes into a Giant Ice Spike, then explored more variations with Iz and raised Ice Cone Technique to LV:90.
  • Lu Cang learned from Iz that the world’s highest-level mage was Level 8 An Zheng, while Iz claimed to be the strongest mage at Level 5.
  • Lu Cang and Iz reached Shadow Cave, confirmed it was the dungeon on their commission, and entered after Lu Cang tossed a Fireball into the dark passage.

Ch. 12Hidden Dangers

Lu Cang and Iz explored a dungeon, where Lu Cang learned an illumination spell and used his powerful magic to defeat Shadow Bats and Black Panthers. They continued deeper after Lu Cang discovered that his light could expose monsters hiding in the shadows.

  • Iz taught Lu Cang the Root Language and showed him how to chant the Illumination Technique.
  • A Shadow Bat attacked Lu Cang, and Iz warned him to stay alert inside the dungeon.
  • Lu Cang killed a swarm of Shadow Bats with Fireball Technique, gaining proficiency, while Iz collected the corpses when possible.
  • Lu Cang practiced Illumination Technique as they advanced and used Wind Blade Technique to kill more bats without burning their remains.
  • Lu Cang spotted Black Panthers hiding behind rocks and struck first with Ice Cone Technique, then killed the panthers as they pounced.

Ch. 13Harvest and Dark Crystal

Lu Cang and Iz explored the dungeon, where Lu Cang easily killed its monsters and learned about dungeon dangers, loot, and his exceptional elemental perception. After Iz found a Dark Crystal, he suspected its presence might signal that the Harvest Moon would arrive early.

  • Lu Cang discussed how the dungeon would be much more dangerous without the Illumination Technique, and Iz explained why parties needed someone to scout for threats.
  • Lu Cang cautiously attacked the area and treasure chest before opening it, then found a Silver Coin and a Copper Sword that Iz estimated could sell for one silver and fifty copper.
  • Iz explained that Shadow Leopards were dangerous group-hunting beasts, described the value of their pelts and other parts, and said a gatherer could preserve more of their worth.
  • Iz drew a Dark Crystal from a Shadow Leopard corpse and explained its uses, while Lu Cang found that he could already sense Dark Element without it.
  • Iz explained that Lu Cang's innate perception of elements was unusually strong, then looked toward the cavern ceiling and suggested the Dark Crystal might mean the Harvest Moon would arrive early.

Ch. 14Moon Star

Lu Cang and Iz explored a dungeon while Iz explained the Lucky Harvest Moon, and Lu Cang’s powerful spells overwhelmed the monsters they encountered. They defeated a Shadow Demon with Lu Cang’s Light Cross, which grew stronger as he cast it.

  • Iz explained that the Lucky Harvest Moon brought increased resources and rarer drops, drawing adventurers into dungeons.
  • Lu Cang and Iz continued through the dungeon, where Lu Cang killed Shadow Leopards and Shadow Spiders with his Fireball spells.
  • Iz explained that the Shadow Demon could only be harmed by light-based attacks and posed a threat when it left their sight.
  • Lu Cang used Light Cross against the Shadow Demon, casting increasingly powerful crosses without chanting as it pursued him.
  • Lu Cang pinned the Shadow Demon beneath thirteen crosses of light, and it shrank into a pitch-black hide.

Ch. 15Malice

Iz betrayed Lu Cang and hurled him into the lord’s chamber, where he faced a giant serpent in a room with unusually sparse elements. Lu Cang discovered that ice magic could hurt the monster and escaped its sweeping tail by launching himself to the cavern ceiling with an Ice Spike.

  • Iz restrained Lu Cang, shattered his spells, and slammed him through the opening stone door into the lord’s chamber.
  • Lu Cang saw a ten-meter black serpent and realized that his magic power was not recovering because the room’s elements were sparse.
  • Lu Cang’s Fireballs failed to stop the serpent, but a giant Ice Spike struck its soft abdomen and another pierced it from the opposite side.
  • The serpent swept its massive tail across the floor, and Lu Cang used an Ice Spike and his frozen left hand to launch himself to the cavern ceiling.

Ch. 16Phase Two

Lu Cang fought the giant serpent while trapped in the cave and struggled to survive its sudden second phase. He slowed it with a devastating ice attack and continued striking its head, while Iz remained a threat outside the door.

  • Lu Cang used fireballs to counter the serpent’s dark spray, then pinned it down with ice spikes while considering how to deal with Iz outside the door.
  • The serpent’s eyes turned bloodred, and it smashed through the ice spikes before sending Lu Cang scrambling across the cave with its tail.
  • Lu Cang used ice spikes to dodge the serpent’s attacks and launched a double-piercing strike that drove ice into its skull and slowed its movements.
  • Lu Cang seized the opening and sent five more ice spikes crashing into the serpent’s jaw and skull.

Ch. 17Evolution

Lu Cang exhausted his mana to pierce and freeze the giant serpent, then collapsed as his Magic Tide evolved into Void Magic. He woke in Kumiloni’s care, learned Iz had engineered the crisis to force his breakthrough, and discovered his mana capacity and spells had greatly increased.

  • Lu Cang poured his remaining mana into Ice Spikes, but the giant serpent survived repeated attacks and continued to threaten him.
  • Lu Cang compressed his final spell into an Ice Needle, pierced the serpent’s head, and lost consciousness as Void Magic replaced Magic Tide.
  • Iz caught Lu Cang as he fell, restored the dungeon’s elements, and dispelled the Demonic Beast Frenzy, causing the frozen serpent to shatter.
  • Lu Cang woke beside Kumiloni, who explained that Iz had put him under pressure to help him break through his mana limit.
  • Lu Cang found that his mana capacity had grown nearly fiftyfold, his body had recovered, and Ice Cone Technique had reached Level 100 and was ready to evolve.
  • Izpalut entered the room after someone knocked on the door.

Ch. 18Trust

Lu Cang learned that Iz had engineered a staged life-or-death trial to help him master Void Magic, and chose to trust him again despite his lingering fear and resentment. Iz explained the magic’s conditions and showed Lu Cang that it could replenish mana even in an area stripped of external elements.

  • Kumiloni explained that Iz’s Malice Aura had intensified Lu Cang’s fear and hostility during the trial.
  • Lu Cang decided to trust Iz again, and Iz explained how he had controlled the dungeon monsters and danger to push Lu Cang toward mastering Void Magic.
  • Iz told Lu Cang that Void Magic required a first-level mage whose Magic Tide had reached its proficiency limit, and that Lu Cang had been close to mastering it.
  • Iz created a mana-free zone, and Lu Cang found that his Void Magic immediately replenished the mana he spent on an Ice Spike.

Ch. 19Don't Make Kids Drink!

Lu Cang learned that Void Magic drew mana from the void and gained an enormous mana pool and recovery rate. After settling the dungeon quest and collecting his share, he was pulled into a victory party at the Adventurer's Guild, where Chicheng made him pay and the adventurers raised glasses to him.

  • Iz explained Void Magic's mana recovery, and Lu Cang's mana pool grew to seventy times its former limit while his recovery speed reached two percent per breath.
  • Lu Cang asked where mana and the void came from, but Iz said the knowledge was forbidden and only revealed that mana was not the only thing to come from the void.
  • Iz and Lu Cang settled the quest at the Adventurer's Guild, where Lu Cang received two gold and twenty-six silver after Iz handed the spoils to Xili.
  • Iz explained that ordinary parties earned far less from second-tier dungeons after splitting rewards and paying for supplies.
  • Chicheng loudly announced that Lu Cang had soloed a second-tier dungeon, drawing the guild's attention to his age and magical talent.
  • Chicheng declared that Lu Cang would host a victory party, and the adventurers toasted him before he could object.

Ch. 20Town

After waking with a hangover, Lu Cang accepted two gold coins from Kumiloni as compensation from Iz and toured Rhein Town with her. Kumiloni left to help Granny Sansi, and Lu Cang was set to explore the town on his own.

  • Lu Cang woke beside the sleeping Chicheng, and Kumiloni healed his hangover with her Life Force.
  • Kumiloni gave Lu Cang two gold coins as compensation from Iz, and Lu Cang accepted them after hearing they would mark a reconciliation.
  • Kumiloni showed Lu Cang Rhein Town’s guild, library, training ground, Life Hall, altars, shops, and local prices.
  • Lu Cang realized the previous night’s feast had cost far more than the food needs of a hundred adventurers and blamed it on a transmigration tax.
  • Kumiloni left to help Granny Sansi harvest her fields after Lu Cang said he would explore the town alone.
