  • Shen Gongbao withdrew from the battlefield and flew toward Golden Ao Island.

Ch. 1028Burning Xiqi

  • Ran Deng ruled out sending a higher-level cultivator against Yin Jiao and ordered an envoy to request aid from Kunlun.
  • Guang Chengzi received Ran Deng’s request and determined that the Wuji Apricot Yellow Banner alone could not counter Yin Jiao, so they needed the Eastern Green Lotus Treasure Banner as well.

Ch. 1031Xuandu's Reluctance

Guang Chengzi persuaded Grand Master Xuandu to lend the Azure Lotus Treasure Banner after Taishang Laozi explained that it was needed to restore order to the God Conferment. Armed with it and the Wuji Apricot Yellow Banner, Guang Chengzi arrived at Xiqi to confront Yin Jiao, whose Human Emperor Banner had suppressed the camp.

  • Guang Chengzi traveled to the Eight Sceneries Palace and asked Xuandu to lend him the Azure Lotus Treasure Banner for Xiqi.
  • Xuandu refused because lending the banner would draw it into the God Conferment and oppose the Human Dao.
  • Taishang Laozi summoned Xuandu and explained that Yin Jiao's use of the Human Emperor Banner threatened the balance between the Human and Immortal Daos.
  • Xuandu accepted his master's command, retrieved the Azure Lotus Treasure Banner, and lent it to Guang Chengzi with instructions to use it only to check Yin Jiao and return it after the war.

After Yin Jiao fell at Mount Qi, General Kong reassured Queen Jiang that her sons had gained enduring divine positions, and she renewed her resolve to defend Great Shang. On the battlefield, Jiang Ziya claimed Yin Jiao’s Yin Yang Sword, but the Human Emperor Banner resisted the immortals and Buddhas, so they summoned Ji Fa to try to claim it.

  • General Kong sensed Yin Jiao’s death and told Queen Jiang that her sons’ places on the Investiture of the Gods would free them from mortal death.

  • Princess Longji welcomed Yuehe Elder, dismissed her attendants, and sealed the palace hall against outside sounds and prying.

Ch. 1036Princess Longji's Opportunity

Yuehe Elder told Princess Longji that her destined mortal marriage was with Hong Jin and urged her to use it to persuade him to abandon Shang and join Zhou. After weighing the risks of offending Saint Tongtian, Longji understood that the Heavenly Dao’s protections made the descent a rare opportunity, though she had not yet acted.

  • Yuehe Elder revealed that Princess Longji’s fate chart had gained a destined marriage in the Mortal World.
  • Longji resisted the match, fearing that immortal-mortal entanglements would bring censure and damage her standing.
  • Yuehe Elder identified Hong Jin, a Jie Sect general fighting for Great Shang, as Longji’s destined partner and urged her to persuade him to join Zhou.
  • Longji warned that turning Hong Jin against the Jie Sect could offend Saint Tongtian and entangle her in the Chan-Jie conflict.
  • Yuehe Elder argued that Hong Jin’s return to Zhou was already decreed by the Heavenly Dao and that Haotian, the Heavenly Court, Nuwa’s rules, and the Chan Sect would protect Longji.
  • Longji considered the gains and risks and recognized the descent as an opportunity to gain merit and advance her Dao.

Ch. 1037Long Ji's Reinforcements

Princess Longji agreed to descend and help Xiqi break the stalemate by defeating Hong Jin, whose name was fixed on the Investiture list and who was bound to her by a heavenly marriage. She faced Hong Jin on the battlefield and challenged his Flag Gate Evasion Arts, leaving the outcome unresolved.

Ch. 1039Evil Causes Evil

Hong Jin and Princess Longji completed their Heavenly Dao marriage and joined Xiqi, while Kong Xuan judged the union a scheme that would bring heavy karmic consequences upon Xiqi and the Chan Sect. From Sanshan Pass, he turned his attention to the dormant phoenix-cry Clear Qi hidden throughout the pass.

  • Elder Yuehe presided over Hong Jin and Princess Longji's marriage, and the Heavenly Dao Seal bound them as Dao Companions.

  • Kong Xuan warned that Xiqi's apparent success would end in future ruin when the Investiture tribulation ended and its debts were settled.
  • Kong Xuan looked down over Sanshan Pass and saw dormant streams of phoenix-cry Clear Qi hidden in its mountains and forests.

  • A messenger reported the Jie Sect’s latest defeat, and the officials panicked as they realized Great Shang had lost its immortal support.
  • A general urged Di Xin to send troops against Xiqi, but most officials stayed silent and privately considered changing sides.

Ch. 1042The Phoenix Clan Finally Appears

Golden Phoenix restored King Zhou’s resolve and reassured him that Xiqi could not easily overcome Great Shang’s defenses. At Golden Rooster Ridge, the Phoenix Clan appeared above the Shang army, shattering Xiqi’s faith and forcing Jiang Ziya to call on Daoist Ran Deng and Maitreya for aid.

  • Golden Phoenix counseled King Zhou to hold fast to his original heart, and he regained his resolve as Human King.
  • Golden Phoenix assured King Zhou that Great Shang’s passes and defenses would prevent Xiqi from advancing easily, then vanished.
  • Jiang Ziya halted Xiqi’s army at Golden Rooster Ridge and sent immortals to challenge the defending general, but no one answered.
  • Countless flame-wreathed Phoenixes appeared over the Shang army, causing Xiqi’s soldiers and leaders to lose faith and morale.
  • Jiang Ziya urgently asked Deputy Sect Master Ran Deng and Senior Maitreya to intervene before Xiqi’s army collapsed.
  • Daoist Ran Deng and Maitreya rose above the Xiqi formation and advanced toward the Phoenixes with Daoist power and Buddhist chants.

Ch. 1043They Picked a Fight They Couldn't Win

Ch. 1044Buddhism's Reinforcements

  • Ran Deng proposed that the armies fight, with Xiqi withdrawing if it lost, and Kong Xuan accepted.
  • Jiang Ziya ordered Xiqi’s forces to attack, and the Phoenix Clan met them in battle.
  • The Phoenix Clan routed most of the Chan Sect forces, leaving Jiang Ziya, Ran Deng, and Maitreya facing defeat.
  • A Buddhist chant halted the Phoenix Clan’s attacks as a vast Buddhist dharma idol and hosts of Buddhist figures descended onto Golden Rooster Ridge.

Ch. 1045The Blunt Kong Xuan

Kong Xuan held off the Buddhist reinforcements at Golden Rooster Ridge until Saint Zhunti appeared and invited him to join Buddhism. Kong Xuan rejected the offer and publicly denounced Zhunti, leaving the battlefield frozen in shock.

  • Buddhist reinforcements led by Ran Deng and Maitreya halted the Phoenix Clan’s advance and restored Xiqi’s collapsing lines.
  • Kong Xuan called out Zhunti, who dissolved his golden manifestation and descended to face him in person.

  • The battle at Golden Rooster Ridge fell silent as the immortals, Buddhas, soldiers, and Phoenix Clan cultivators watched Kong Xuan confront Zhunti.

Ch. 1046Revealing His Strength

Zhunti tried to seize Kong Xuan and forcibly convert him, but Kong Xuan revealed that he had reached the early stage of Primordial Grand Luo Golden Immortal and stopped Zhunti’s attack. Zhunti recognized Kong Xuan’s new breakthrough but decided his own greater power would still let him suppress him.

  • Zhunti ignored Kong Xuan’s rebuke, manifested his golden Dharma Image, and sent a giant hand to seize him.
  • Kong Xuan scorned Zhunti’s scheming and revealed his Peacock Dharma Image and Primordial Grand Luo Golden Immortal aura, halting the golden hand.
  • Zhunti and the battlefield’s immortals and Buddhas reacted with shock at Kong Xuan’s breakthrough.

  • Qing Qiong appeared before Zhunti and revealed that Kong Xuan was his disciple, making Zhunti withdraw his attack and apologize.
  • Zhunti tried to use Azure Nether Island's promise to avoid worldly affairs to force Qing Qiong to abandon Kong Xuan.
  • Qing Qiong argued that the Phoenix Clan was destined to take part in the Investiture of the Gods Calamity and warned that he could take them all to Azure Nether Island.
  • Zhunti realized that pursuing Kong Xuan risked Qing Qiong's wrath and could force Western Teach disciples to fill the Phoenix Clan's places in the calamity.
  • Qing Qiong proposed that Kong Xuan withdraw from the battle and Buddhism leave Golden Rooster Ridge alone, and Zhunti reluctantly agreed.

Ch. 1050Soldiers at Jiameng Pass

After the Phoenix Clan fell at Golden Rooster Ridge, Jiang Ziya led the Zhou army east to Jiameng Pass, where Hu Sheng favored surrender but Hu Lei prepared to resist.
