Illusion Law

There was nothing else to see here. Xuan Qing was about to leave when a faint aura suddenly stirred his Divine Sense, and for an instant, everything before him felt unreal.

"The power of Law!"

Xuan Qing understood at once. Only the power of Law could make him experience such an illusion. Qing Qiu was clearly not as simple as it seemed. He turned back and asked Little Fox,

"Su Mei, does your Fox Clan have any unusual places?"

"Unusual places? Let me think. The Marriage Fruit Tree is the most unusual thing in all of Qing Qiu. Oh, right, does our birthplace count?"

Su Mei pondered for a long while before thinking of a place. She did not know whether it was the answer Xuan Qing wanted.

"Come on, lead the way."

Xuan Qing did not hesitate any longer and immediately had Su Mei lead them.

"Brother, what is it? Did you find something strange?"

Seeing her brother acting oddly, Han Xi called for the others to follow. The group hurried after Little Fox, while countless clan members watched them curiously along the way, wondering why they were so interested in their people's birthplace.

They had not walked far before reaching a cave. It was very small, with room for only a few dozen people. The cave was empty, with nothing inside and no unusual aura.

Xuan Qing stared at the cave before him in thought.

"Master, there's nothing here."

Qing Ya looked at the cave. They would have noticed even a needle dropped on the ground, so why did Master look so deep in thought?

This was the Fox Clan's birthplace. How could it possibly be so ordinary? There had to be something unusual about it; he simply had not discovered it yet.

Seeing that his Divine Sense could not directly detect anything, Xuan Qing released his Primordial Spirit and manifested the Earth Flower. Strands of the Law of Creation appeared throughout the cave, and under their influence, the space within the cave began to ripple.

"Innate Formation!"

As soon as the Law touched it, a Formation revealed itself. Han Xi and the others stared at Xuan Qing in astonishment. None of them had expected the Formation to be hidden so deeply.

"Little Fox, this is your birthplace. None of you noticed this Formation? Then how were you born in the first place?"

Xuan Qing turned to Su Mei. Had they not even looked into how they had appeared when they were born?

"Senior, when we gained spiritual intelligence and awakened, we were already inside the cave. We never noticed this Formation. If the cave had not been so ordinary that it made us suspicious, we might have missed this Formation forever after today."

Su Mei had been doubtful as well. How could such an ordinary cave have nurtured them?

Xuan Qing did not dwell on it further. He would have to break the Formation to learn the truth. Sitting down cross-legged on the spot, he began comprehending the Formation. When his Divine Sense touched it, he sensed a familiar Law upon it.

After thinking carefully, he recognized it as the Nightmare Law. Yet it was somewhat different, as though the Law had weakened considerably. It did not feel like the Origin of a Chaos Demon God.

Xuan Qing had thought he had encountered the remnants of a Chaos Demon God again, but the aura was different. Before long, with the aid of the Law of Creation, the Formation was finally broken. Xuan Qing swept it with his Divine Sense and found no danger.

"Come on, Little Fox. Let's take a look at your true birthplace together."

Su Mei could barely contain her impatience. This was her first time returning to her birthplace. She had once believed that cave was it, never expecting the real place to be on the other side of the space.

The seven of them passed through the Formation and entered its inner space. The entire Formation was filled with currents that could drag one into illusions. This did not seem like a manifestation of the Nightmare Law.

"Master, what are these things? I feel like I'm about to be bewitched."

Other than Qing Yue and Han Xi, everyone else was on the verge of being drawn into the currents.

Xuan Qing brought out the Green Lotus of Creation. Once its green light enveloped them, everyone immediately recovered their senses and began carefully examining the place. As a Shore Flower, Qing Yue was naturally born with the power of enchantment. These bewildering currents were somewhat similar to her power and had little effect on her.

Han Xi's case was even simpler. She was already a Grand Luo Golden Immortal, protected by the Law of Yin Yang. This bewildering Law could not affect her. As for Little Fox, she had been born here, so it would not harm her either.

They headed toward the center of the Formation. The place was quite large, about half the size of Qing Qiu Mountain.

The closer they drew to the center, the more currents appeared, and the more active they became. Protected by the Green Lotus of Creation, no one worried about danger. Before long, they reached the Formation's center.

A vast pool appeared before them. A Bell floated above it, looking somewhat like Han Xi's Water Bell. Yet the pool water was formed entirely from condensed currents, the source of the bewildering aura.

Xuan Qing carefully investigated this Law. It did not seem to be any Law he had seen during the Heaven-Opening War. It closely resembled the Nightmare Law, yet it always felt as though something was missing.

After studying it for several thousand years, Xuan Qing finally understood what it was. It was a subordinate Law of the Nightmare Law: the Illusion Law. Its manifested effect was solely bewilderment, specifically targeting the Primordial Spirit.

The Nightmare Demon God had been slain by Great God Pangu and perished completely, unable to escape the Heaven-Opening Tribulation. It had fallen into Qing Qiu, and because the Nightmare Law had been gravely wounded by the Law of Creation, it evolved into the Illusion Law.

No wonder the women of the Fox Clan were so popular in the Prehistoric Era. They were a race born from the Illusion Law. Since the Illusion Law specifically targeted the Primordial Spirit, it could enhance Magic Power. However, this ability was effective only below the Grand Luo Golden Immortal realm, and it was harmful when used by others.

Earth Bear, Earth Bear... He had never imagined that his shortcut to dual cultivation would turn out to be this kind of method. If he had known, he would never have done it even if it killed him.

"Senior, may I ask about my clan's origins? Why were we born here?"

Seeing Xuan Qing's brow relax, Su Mei knew that he had understood the origins of these currents and spoke up to ask.

"This is the Illusion Law, a subordinate Law of the Nightmare Law. You are beings born from the Law. Cultivating here in the future will yield twice the results with half the effort."

Xuan Qing was merely offering them some advice. Before the Heavenly Dao Emergence, Innate Fox Clan members would continuously be born here, and cultivation in this place would bring many benefits. However, it would offer no such benefits to the later Acquired Fox Clan. Without sufficient strength, entering this place would be courting death.

The Bell floating here was the Illusion Bell, a Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure born from the Law's Origin. It possessed forty-eight Innate Restrictions, but it could not be taken out of this space. Otherwise, the Illusion Law here would erupt, and all of Qing Qiu would know no peace.

This was also a Spiritual Treasure that could only emerge after the Heavenly Dao Emergence. The Fox Clan would later possess the foundation of a Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, and ordinary races would not dare provoke them.

"You cannot take this Bell away yet. It needs to suppress this space. Once the space stabilizes, you may take it. Then you will have a Top-grade Spiritual Treasure to protect yourself, and you will no longer need to fear the Earth Bear Clan."

After explaining the situation to Su Mei, Xuan Qing had settled the Karma of casually investigating another's birthplace.

"Senior, once this place stabilizes, Little Fox will surely give it to you. We have nothing worthy enough to thank you for saving our lives."

Upon hearing that it was a Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, Su Mei thought it would be perfect for repaying Xuan Qing's life-saving grace.

"There's no need. This Bell is an evolved object of the Illusion Law. It would be less useful to us than a High-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure. Besides, it is naturally compatible with your Law and may become your supreme treasure for attaining the Dao in the future. It would be useless in our hands."

Xuan Qing did not want a Spiritual Treasure that was of little use, especially one that would require waiting countless ages. It was too troublesome and not worthwhile. It was better left to the Fox Clan.

Before Su Mei could continue persuading him, Xuan Qing waved his hand and pointed at the Green Lotus of Creation above his head. "You recognize this too. Do you think I lack a Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure like that?"

Su Mei was instantly speechless. Who in the entire Prehistoric Era did not know of the Green Lotus of Creation? It was said to be an Innate Supreme Treasure even stronger than the Three Sky-Opening Treasures. She had not expected Senior to possess such a tremendous opportunity. Naturally, he had no interest in her Spiritual Treasure.

Su Mei also realized that ordinary things could not catch Xuan Qing's eye. None of the others showed any envy either, so she knew that not one of them wanted this Spiritual Treasure. Her Fox Clan truly had nothing with which to thank Xuan Qing.

Since they had nothing to offer in gratitude, they would engrave Xuan Qing in the hearts of every Fox Clan member. Perhaps after Xuan Qing and the others left, she could erect a statue in the clan for her people to revere. That might be a good idea.

Xuan Qing had no idea what Su Mei was plotting. He led everyone out of the space. He had damaged part of the Formation with the Law of Creation, so anyone would be able to enter and leave freely in the future.

After thinking about it, Xuan Qing decided to help Little Fox set it up again. Otherwise, if something happened to their birthplace in the future, it would still be his fault.

"Little Fox, the Formation lost its ability to restrict entry and exit after being broken by the Law. I will set it up again now, so you should all leave first."

After sending everyone away, Xuan Qing began arranging a new Formation. The old Formation could no longer be used. He took out several Acquired Spiritual Roots and arranged them according to the sun, moon, and stars. Before long, a Formation was complete.

The Formations Xuan Qing knew were all arranged using either the Law of Creation or Star Power. The Law of Creation could not be used here, so he used several Acquired Spiritual Roots to create a simple Star Formation.

This Formation could more or less withstand an ordinary Grand Luo Golden Immortal. It could also gather a small amount of Star Power, which was perfect for aiding the birth of the Fox Clan. He had truly invested quite a bit this time.

After leaving the cave, Xuan Qing found that Su Mei had learned human eating habits from Qing Ling and the others over the years. When he found her, she was making food with the group. Xuan Qing directly imprinted the method for controlling the Formation into her mind.
