Background / History

Xuan Qing was formerly Zhou Xiaoqin. After gaining new life in the Primordial Land, his Primordial Spirit was nurtured by a Twenty-Four Petaled Jade Green Lotus of Creation within Three Lights Divine Water, while the Dao Coffin of Time and Space hung above him. He adopted the name Xuan Qing upon recognizing this rebirth as separate from his mortal past. Traces of silver-gray, cyan-purple, and pale-gold Supreme Laws appeared within his Primordial Spirit. 6

After taking human form, Xuan Qing discovered that the Green Lotus of Creation possessed fifty Chaos Restrictions, one of which remained incomplete. His Dao body fused with a trace of Creation Dao Rhyme and possessed unusual compatibility with the will of the Human Dao. 6

He returned to his birthplace and established a Dao field around a pool of Three Lights Divine Water, Nine Heavens Breathing Soil, and the Enlightenment Ancient Tea Tree. He cultivated Innate Spiritual Roots from the tea tree’s branches, built a cave dwelling, and received Great Dao Merit; much of that merit entered his Primordial Spirit and helped the Green Lotus of Creation restore a Chaos Restriction. 7

Seeking companionship in an otherwise lifeless Dao field, Xuan Qing mastered Creation and Transformation, then enlightened two High-Grade Innate Spiritual Roots into Qing Ya and Qing Ling. He named them using his own Dao name and deliberately taught them modern knowledge and more relaxed ways of living rather than imposing the rigid etiquette of the Primordial Era. 9 10

His influence expanded from Azure Nether Island through cultivation, preaching, formation work, refuge for displaced beings, and interventions in major conflicts. His assistance to the Four Clans, the establishment of the Four Pillars, and the salvation of remnant souls earned him the title Immeasurable Dao Venerable from the Great Dao. 71 81

Xuan Qing later intervened in the Heavenly Dao’s arrangements, protected Nuwa when she rejected Primordial Violet Qi, and exposed the dangers inherent in Hongjun’s method of Severing the Three Corpses. He offered the Method of Severing Three Bodies as an alternative route to attaining the Dao. 197 198

After entering Guixu, he was recognized as a Supreme by Qing Xu but found himself unable to leave under Guixu’s restrictions. Xiao, an incarnation born from Xuan Qing’s Obsession, subsequently created Qin from severed Divine Sense and the Green Lotus of Creation to operate beyond Guixu. Xuan Qing later revealed that he had cultivated four Supreme Laws and possessed multiple Dao Bodies. By using the Myriad Heavens Wheel and the Origins of Huan Yu World and Perfect World, he began drawing those worlds toward the Primordial World. 701 794 1201

Personality

Xuan Qing is easygoing with those he considers his own people. He dislikes excessive formality, treats Azure Nether Island as a home rather than a hierarchy, and encourages Qing Ya and Qing Ling to speak naturally around him. He retains habits from his mortal life—furniture, tea, food, private rooms, travel, and relaxation—to avoid losing his humanity during cultivation. 7 9 10 24

He is generous toward disciples and allies, freely sharing spiritual fruits, cultivation insights, spiritual treasures, refuge, and access to Azure Nether Island.
