The Second Elder hurried to answer. "The foundation of a village isn't the number of its fields or the size of its population. It's the Demonic Creature Lairs!"

"The number of lairs is what determines a village's size and prosperity."

"The more lairs there are, the more Descenders they attract, and the more labor we have. Compared to the village's small population, the Descenders' world has an effectively endless number of people."
