"Father, no matter which of your brothers returns, none of them can shake the Emperor's trust in you as the first-found son. After all, you are the deputy commander of the Great Crusade. Lord Russ, the Wolf King, and Ferrus, master of the 10th Legion, do not share that honor." Abaddon, his hair tied in a Ponytail, spoke to his Primarch.

"Watch your words, Abaddon! Russ and Ferrus are no less capable than I am in any respect!" Horus rebuked him. He would not allow anyone to belittle his brothers, not even his own First Captain.

Horus reprimanded Abaddon and refused to let him demean his brothers, but Abaddon's words about the Emperor's trust and favor still pleased him greatly.

During the thirty years he had spent with the Emperor, Horus had practically monopolized him. When the Wolf King returned, Horus had initially felt somewhat dissatisfied, but he quickly broke free from that desire to possess the Emperor's love alone.

But when he learned that he had another twenty brothers, Horus was deeply saddened. He realized that his father's love would have to be divided into twenty-one portions. Fortunately, Horus later came to his senses and swore to fulfill the role of eldest brother well.

"Father, I misspoke." Abaddon looked utterly terrified, yet when he saw his father unconsciously stroking the Centaur Ring on his right hand with his left, joy filled his heart.

Abaddon rejoiced that he had grasped his father's feelings. He had even decided to compose a poem for the warrior lodges within the 16th Legion, praising the deep father-son bond between his commander and the Emperor. Abaddon had already thought of both the title and the contents.
