"Twilight Hermit Society."
Konan softly recited the five words, and an inexplicable power rippled deep within her heart.
In a daze, she felt as if she had fallen into boundless darkness. Deep within the viscous black mist, she saw a magnificent and colossal Church of Bones.
Inside the pure white church stood rows of pitch-black stone pillars, inlaid with the bones of countless creatures. At the deepest part of the church, on a high platform, stood a giant cross made of bones, bound to an unspeakable, indescribable colossal light and shadow that seemed to support heaven and earth.
The moment her gaze, completely subconsciously, fell upon that light and shadow.
Buzz!
Countless thoughts, like a flood, were forcibly shoved into her mind.
Konan clutched her head, which felt like it was about to split, and let out screams. She felt her very being being torn into millions of pieces by the impact of those torrents, as if by a crude hand.
Each torn fragment of her personality seemed to possess its own will, whispering, roaring, and howling in her ears with different voices.
"No... no more."
Konan's eyes were hollow and unfocused, her mind a blank slate, like a broken puppet.
Just then, 'Adam' suddenly made his move.
As she endured immense pain, tormented by thousands of thoughts and personalities, a figure shrouded in light descended like an angel.
The six-winged angel, enveloped in light, gently caressed her head with a warm palm.
Gradually, all the voices receded from her.
Under that warm light, Konan felt comfort from the depths of her soul, like an infant in its mother's womb.
A moment later, Konan, having regained her calm, opened her eyes and saw Adam.
His eyes, still like an infant's, clear and pure with a faint golden hue, made her feel incredibly at ease.
"What... what was that?"
Lingering fear remained in Konan's eyes; she was still shaken by what had just happened.
Whether it was the magnificent Church of Bones, the colossal light and shadow bound to the bone cross, or even the 'angel' that finally appeared, all of it far surpassed her established worldview.
So, this is the true Ninja World!
Before, she had been like a pet living in a fishbowl, never truly understanding these truths.
But now... she seemed to have finally glimpsed a sliver of it.
"I apologize, it was my oversight."
Uchiha Sōgetsu said gently, "I forgot to warn you not to recite that name privately without my permission in the future."
In fact, he had done it intentionally.
People often fear power but don't respect kindness; sometimes, words are not as effective as demonstrating strength.
Of course, he couldn't simulate the aura of a true deity, let alone summon the 'Ancient Sun God,' so that scene was still 'fake.'
However, even though it was fake, its essence was still a part of the 'Ancient Sun God'—the Corrupting Words!
The Corrupting Words, born from the blasphemous voice of the true Creator's 'Rap,' made him sigh with genuine admiration: this thing was truly useful!
"May I ask, can you tell me?"
Konan hesitated, but still insisted on asking the question that was troubling her: "What exactly was that?"
"You can call Him... the Creator."
Uchiha Sōgetsu said calmly, "He is the Lord who created everything, an omniscient and omnipotent God; He is also the source of all greatness, the beginning and the end, the god of gods, the ruler of the vast starry realms, the great being we believe in, and the reason for the establishment of the 'Twilight Hermit Society.'"
"But wasn't it the Sage of Six Paths who created everything?" Konan was confused. This was completely different from the 'mythology' she was familiar with.
"So-called mythology is merely stories passed down and adapted by later generations based on true events," Uchiha Sōgetsu shook his head and smiled. "Just like the Sage of Six Paths you know, if the original story were revealed, it might only disappoint you."
Konan wanted to ask more, but he stopped her with a raised hand: "Cannot be said, cannot be asked."
It wasn't that he was deliberately being mysterious, but rather that he didn't want to delve deeper.
After all, although he had the 'Fate Doll' and was confident it could block the detection of the Sage of Six Paths and the Great Toad, this extraordinary item was not of high grade. Saying a few words would be fine, but if he kept talking about them, whether they would be discovered was another matter entirely.
"I understand, Mr. Adam."
Konan immediately grasped his meaning and wisely closed her mouth.
"Our fated connection ends here."
Uchiha Sōgetsu slowly stood up, picked up the black book, and his golden eyes scrutinized her. "I hope that the next time we meet, I can see your resolve."
"Wait, Mr. Adam!"
Seeing the man about to leave, Konan became flustered. "Please, how can I contact you? And how can I change my destiny? And, what do you need me to do?"
"You don't need to do anything, at least not yet." Uchiha Sōgetsu looked up at the sky and said meaningfully, "And you don't need to contact me. As for how to change destiny... I have already told you the answer."
With that, he stepped into the rain.
Whether it was a coincidence or not, the sky cleared at that moment. The rain stopped, the clouds dispersed, and a ray of sunlight shone down, illuminating his retreating figure as if he were a god walking the earth.
"The Lord said: When He awakens from His slumber of death..."
"The kingdom He envisioned will descend upon the world; the future He declared will be realized."
The chanting gradually faded, and 'Adam' vanished as if he had never been there.
"The answer."
Konan lowered her head, clutching the fabric of her clothes tightly, her fingers turning white, her gaze resolute: "Amegakure needs change. The Akatsuki also needs change!"
"Nagato, I need you."
Returning from an outing, Konan sat by Nagato's sickbed, her first words being a plea for his help.
Though he didn't know what trouble Konan had encountered, Nagato, who viewed her as a sister, agreed without the slightest hesitation, not even asking for reasons. "Okay, tell me."
"I want to purge the organization from within."
Konan's tone was as cold as millennia-old ice, a certain 'will' flickering in her eyes.
"You said. What?"
Nagato rubbed his eyes, thinking he had misheard.
"I said, I want to purge the organization from within," Konan repeated, staring straight at him. "Yahiko is dead, but his will is not. I want to inherit his will and create a world without oppression. Nagato, will you help me?"
Looking at the girl before him, Nagato felt a sense of unfamiliarity for a moment.
The girl who used to be quiet, who always relied on him and Yahiko, was now telling him she wanted to inherit Yahiko's will.
"Can you tell me why, Konan?" Nagato asked with a complex expression.
"If destiny truly dictates that we will die."
Konan's eyes seemed to burn with flames: "At least before that, I will use all my strength to destroy it!"
At that moment, Nagato felt as if he saw a burning, pitch-black flame in Konan's pupils.
That black flame was so chilling, cold, and sharp.
But, this was good.
At least this Konan made him feel at ease.
"I understand, Konan."
Nagato slowly sat up, leaning on the edge of the bed. Just as he had always trusted Yahiko, he said, "I will help you, even if it means going against destiny, against the world."
"Thank you, Nagato."
Konan's heart warmed, and she clasped his emaciated hands.
"So, what do you plan to do?"
Nagato coughed a couple of times and asked weakly.
"Integrate the Akatsuki and take control of Amegakure."
Konan laid out the plan she had long conceived.
"If someone doesn't listen..." Nagato hesitated before asking.
He knew the current state of the organization all too well.
After Yahiko's death, many members had left, and some of those who remained were stirring, intending to seize power.
These individuals had been with the organization since its early days, considered founding members.
"It's simple."
Konan's tone was flat and calm. "Those who don't listen will be killed. Those who do will stay."
The Ninja World isn't that complicated.
The strong make the rules, and the weak follow them!
A brief explanation: Hokage is essentially a manga, and its world-building and timeline inherently have conflicts. However, to rationalize it as much as possible, some reinterpretation of the original characters is necessary. My interpretation may not be correct, but this is the established setting for this book. I hope the esteemed readers can understand.
