After thinking it over, Xu Yi realized he really had gone far too long without spending time playing with her.
Xu Yi had plenty of freedom with his time now and could leave whenever he wanted. So he took Qiu Wa out of the academy and into the safe zone.
Once Qiu Wa entered the woods, it was like she had arrived at a playground. She vanished completely, appearing one moment on a flower and the next atop a tree.
Every so often, she tossed over a few sweet, fragrant fruits or a whole swarm of honey-filled bees. She was having the time of her life.
Xu Yi let her do as she pleased, and didn't even care whether they had left the safe zone. Before they knew it, they had climbed a mountain. Dazzling sunlight spilled over from the distant snowy peaks, filling the sky with rosy light and bathing everything in holy brilliance.
"What a beautiful snowy mountain, Bearded Uncle! Let's go take a look!"
Qiu Wa pointed at the distant peak, cheering with excitement.
Xu Yi nodded, swept her into his arms, and soared into the air. Before long, they had reached the summit. His senses spread in every direction. A thought stirred, and he looked southwest, where a pure-white giant eagle was floating in a spring, bathing in leisurely comfort.
"You wretched bird! It's you!"
Xu Yi's eyes widened in fury. He gave Qiu Wa a light pat, and she understood, turning into a grass ring that looped around his finger.
Xu Yi didn't rush to attack. He knew all too well how fast the giant eagle was. Without proper preparation, there was no way he could subdue it.
As he studied the terrain, a fierce gust swept in. A huge shadow flashed through the air
