Appearance

Although called a “ring,” Sumeru Rings may be worn as bracelets or on a necklace. Their colors and sizes vary, but their outward appearance does not reliably identify their original owners.

• Elder Qi's matched pair are golden bracelets; the larger remains on his wrist, while Xu Yi receives the smaller one 122.
• Documented examples include golden, crimson, pale gold, silver-white, dark green, ink-colored, and light-gold rings 193 300 435 436.
• Because they are mass-produced and available in only limited color variations, a ring's appearance generally cannot be used to trace its owner 435.

Spatial Storage

A Sumeru Ring contains an internal storage space accessed through thought. It allows its wearer to carry equipment, medicinal pills, wealth, corpses, and even other storage artifacts without relying on cumbersome bags.

• Xu Yi stores his waist pouch inside Elder Qi's ring, though the pouch occupies most of its small internal space 122.
• He later retrieves cookware and supplies from a ring while stranded near a river 168.
• Rings can hold combat supplies for immediate use, including Qi Replenishing Pills and Essence Restoration Pills 193.
• Xu Yi routinely uses larger rings to consolidate weapons, medicinal pills, cultivation texts, corpses, and lesser Sumeru Rings 300 436.

Low-grade rings can be activated with palm strength, but many higher-quality rings are protected by restrictions.

• Elder Qi's low-grade ring can be opened by anyone with sufficient palm strength; losing it means losing access to everything inside 122.
• Some rings absorb blood and form a connection with the user's thoughts, enabling storage access 194.
• Xue Zihan's ring bears a personal restriction that allows only her to sense it 181.
• Xu Yi uses Five Elements Array Flags to break several restricted rings during the ancient-tomb expedition 193.
• He later destroys the formidable restriction on Old Ancestor Wen's ring by expending repeated sets of Five Elements Array Flags, then uses top-grade flags to open his remaining rings 435.

Limits and Vulnerabilities

• Elder Qi states that the interior of his ring is a dead space and cannot hold living beings 122.
• Sumeru Rings cannot accompany Xu Yi through spatial traversal because separate alternate dimensions cannot overlap; he buries one before returning to Great Yue 1074.
• Huang Xuanji states that spatial treasures such as Sumeru Rings cannot enter Dark Mountain 796.
• Xu Yi suspects that the Black Origin Giants' origin Qi can devour and decompose Sumeru Rings after finding none among cultivators they had consumed 1426.

Sumeru Rings are scarce, prestigious, and valuable independently of their contents.

• In Guang'an Prefecture, storage artifacts are nearly impossible to buy openly; even black-market inquiries produce no fixed price 122.
• Xu Yi hears of a fallen young master exchanging one ring for one hundred thousand gold at Linglong Pavilion 122.
• A white-bearded appraiser values Xu Yi's nearly defective ring at twenty thousand gold, adding a premium because spatial artifacts are scarce 258.
• Five good-quality rings can each sell for around one hundred thousand gold, and Zimo Xuan's ability to display five at once establishes the shop's credibility in the Divine Capital 435.
• Rings are often treated as the most important possessions of cultivators; Liu Ming and Liu Yong are devastated after Xu Yi seizes theirs, including their private belongings and cultivation resources 1615.

History

Elder Qi's Gift

Elder Qi gives Xu Yi the smaller ring of his matched golden pair after Xu Yi agrees in principle to help retrieve a treasure cauldron. The gift demonstrates Elder Qi's sincerity and removes Xu Yi's need to carry a waist pouch. Xu Yi accepts it as a practical necessity even before receiving the promised Divine Essence Pills 122.

Early Acquisitions

During the ancient-tomb expedition, Xu Yi acquires several rings from defeated cultivators, including those of Xue Zihan, Shui Zhongjing, and Liu Fengzhu. After breaking their restrictions, he replaces Elder Qi's half-cubic-meter ring with Shui Zhongjing's larger, two-cubic-meter ring 193 194.

Following the Golden Core battle, Xu Yi inventories ten storage artifacts, including rings belonging to Qi Ming, Old Ancestor Shui, Yun Zhongzi, and the patriarchs of the Lei and Feng families. He reorganizes their contents according to usefulness and capacity 299 300.

The Azure Dragon Mountain Rings

After Xia Zimo returns Xu Yi's collection of rings, he possesses fifteen but can initially access only a few because the rest remain restricted 425 433. He eventually breaks Old Ancestor Wen's silver-white ring with repeated Five Elements Flag formations, then uses the newly opened ring and top-grade flags to shatter the restrictions on all his remaining rings 435.

Old Ancestor Wen's room-sized ring becomes Xu Yi's main storage artifact, holding his Iron Essence, Wailing Stick, formation flags, Yin Corpses, pills, Spiritual Soil, cultivation booklets, and other principal assets 436.

Monster-Hunting Spoils

While hunting monsters, Xu Yi obtains five rings alongside two demon corpses and evaluates their capacity before continuing his expedition 562. By the time he reaches the Reward Palace, he has accumulated fifty-three Sumeru Rings from defeated humans and demons, though he has not yet fully inventoried their contents 596.

Later Use

• Xu Yi entrusts Marquis Anqing with a ring containing six more Sumeru Rings, one million gold notes, medicinal pills, and equipment from Dragon Head Peak 653.
• He buries a ring in the Lotus Pond before spatial traversal, as its internal space cannot overlap with the route he intends to use 1074.
