Yan Zi had been with Linglong Pavilion since childhood. When the Feng Family threatened her after Third Young Master Feng's arrest, Pavilion Master Fang asked Xu Yi to take her in because the pavilion could not openly defy its landlord. Yan Zi readily agreed, having already formed a favorable impression of Xu Yi from their earlier encounters. 235
