• Xu Yi escaped Greedy Snake by hiding inside a Dragon Flag Sword Crocodile, then lured him into a cave where Xu Yi killed him and captured his soul with the Soul-Summoning Banner.
• Xu Yi returned to his cave abode, resumed cultivation and alchemy, and learned from Qiu Wa how to identify medicinal properties and refine Essence Pills.
• Xu Yi won the chief disciple position after Jing Long defeated Chang Feng and yielded it to him, then passed the Outer Sect trials and placed fifth in the medicinal-pill test.
• When Internal Envoy Qin tried to block his advancement, Xu Yi challenged him to a life-or-death duel, killed him, and captured his soul before entering the Inner Sect.

Xu Yi took charge of a failing Guanglong Hall, outmaneuvered rival halls through a risky medicinal-ingredient scheme, and gained the Golden Core Society’s support. The arc ended with Wang Qijue admitting his dealings with the Witch Ghost Sect and explaining the alliance against Xu Yi.

After returning to Xuanqing Sect and surviving conflict with Jun Wuxie and the elders, he traveled to the Golden Core Academy, where the recruits were put to hard labor and assigned their first task.

• True Man Scarlet Fire tried to take control of Guanglong Hall, but Xu Yi used its accounts, his agreement with the Golden Core Society, and a gift to persuade him to back down.
• Xu Yi expanded Guanglong Hall’s trade and auction business, then worked with Qiu Wa to discover how Black Origin Beads could help him refine Spirit Derivation Pills.
• Xu Yi used the pills to form his spirit root and entered the Spiritual Root stage, then learned from Elder Su that Yan Zi had been taken into Feng Biao’s household.
