After clashing with Marquis Wu Cheng and facing a deliberately empty assignment, he reunited with his former tutor Master Zhou and began explaining how he reached the capital.

• Xu Yi joined Gao Junmo and other allies in raiding the Shui family, recovered a restricted jade slip, and divided the spoils while arranging his appointment as Deputy Ten Households.
• Before leaving Guang’an, Xu Yi visited Qiu Wa and Xue Zihan, then hunted down the Snake Demon and recovered a black bead he suspected was Liao Chen’s Precious Scripture.
• Xu Yi’s journey south turned into a confrontation with Master Zuo and Li Zhongshu, whose ambush he defeated before continuing to the capital with Yan Zi and Yuan Qinghua.
• In the capital, Xu Yi rented a cave abode on Futuo Mountain, sold surplus equipment, and studied Stars Shift and Heavens Turn while training to strengthen his body.
• At Marquis Wu Cheng’s residence, Xu Yi fought the Young Marquis and the young nobles, then escaped the estate guards with a Heavenly Thunder Pearl.
• Xu Yi endured five days of punishing training, strengthened his body, registered with the Guard Department, and learned that Marquis Wu Cheng wanted the Golden Box he claimed to have left at home.
• Deputy Head Official Xing assigned Xu Yi to guard the Night Purity Department without soldiers, and Xu Yi reunited there with his former tutor Master Zhou, who asked how he had reached the capital.

Xu Yi completed the first turn of the Undefeated Golden Body, secured a place in the Golden Dragon Guard, and clashed with Xiao Fuchen and the Zhu household. At the Young County Princess’s birthday celebration, Xu Yi entered a poetry contest and impressed the Auspicious Duck with his first poem.

• Xu Yi trained through the Martial Arts Hall’s formations, completed the first turn of the Undefeated Golden Body, and broke through to the Mid Qi Sea Realm.
• After Xiao Fuchen’s men pursued him and Steward Wu was found dead, Lu Shanren intervened, punished Xiao Fuchen, and warned Xu Yi that the incomplete Golden Body could damage his meridians.

Xu Yi won Xia Zimo’s freedom from the auction contest, then survived her departure and pursued cultivation, business, and the mysteries of his new world. The arc ended with Xu Yi securing a loan for Zimo Xuan and preparing to test Liu Qi’s Lesser Flame Formation.

• Xu Yi’s poems and martial prowess won him the license, but Li Xiuluo’s challenge led to Xu Yi discovering his ghostly nature and receiving two drops of Ghost King's Saliva.

Xu Yi saved Xia Zimo from the factions hunting her, then escaped their pursuit into a cavern behind a waterfall. There he studied Stars Shift and Heavens Turn and began cultivating the fourth layer of the Undefeated Golden Body.

• Xu Yi escaped Liu Qi’s Lesser Flame Formation with Yan Zi’s help, killed Liu Qi, and learned the formation’s formula before destroying his Yin Soul.
• Xu Yi learned that a powerful pursuer was hunting Xia Zimo and rushed to her aid as Old Ancestor Wen, Yao Junchi, Yao Wuhui, and Wen Shouhe closed in.
• Xu Yi crippled Yao Wuhui and fought off Wen Shouhe, while Feng Xifeng confronted Old Ancestor Wen and arranged a contest for the Mysterious Monster.
• Xu Yi exposed Feng Xifeng’s motives, then led Marquis Wu Cheng and the other pursuers southeast, using Auspicious Duck’s guidance to reach a gorge and waterfall.
