"Miss, surely Madam Wang won't really hurt the Second Young Master! If she does, then we..." A Bi was young, and Wang Yuyan's words scared her so badly that her lips quivered and she nearly burst into tears.
"A Bi, don't cry yet. Let's go find Madam Wang first. If the Second Young Master really has been harmed, the Murong Family won't just sit back and take it." A Zhu spoke with murderous intent.
In the Gusu region, Canhe Manor's strength was considered the greatest. Aside from its treacherous terrain, Mantuo Mountain Villa couldn't compare with Canhe Manor in any other respect.
If the Murong Family truly wanted to wipe out Mantuo Mountain Villa, it would be easy. After all, they existed for the sake of war.
"Miss, you two young ladies, you're awake." Several female warriors stood guard outside their bedroom.
"Move aside. I need to see my mother." Wang Yuyan pushed at the warriors guarding the door, but with her frail, flower-like frame, she couldn't budge them.
"Miss, Madam ordered us to lock down the villa because intruders have disturbed the grounds. For your safety, you and the two young ladies cannot leave this building without her permission," one of the female warriors said loudly.
"Move, or don't blame me for breaking the rules." Worried that something might have happened to Li Hao, A Bi was ready to fight.
"How dare you block the way of the Miss and the two young ladies! Someone, drag her away and chop her up for flower fertilizer!" A cold voice rang out. A group of female warriors in white hurried over and dragged away the warriors blocking the door.
The guards being dragged away begged for mercy, but their fellow warriors remained expressionless. It seemed that this would be her last day alive.
"Granny Bai, where's our Second Young Master?" Aside from Li Qingluo, Granny Bai was the person A Bi and the others feared most in Mantuo Mountain Villa.
But for Li Hao's sake, they were willing to risk everything. If the Second Young Master died, they would probably feel so guilty they'd join him in death.
"You two young ladies, don't worry. The Second Young Master is having breakfast. I came to fetch you," Granny Bai said, lowering her head.
Ever since the stone door to the secret chamber had opened that morning, Granny Bai hadn't recovered from her shock.
What was going on? She'd thought Li Hao was doomed, yet he had walked out of the secret chamber alive.
Aside from the dark circles around his eyes, his slightly sallow complexion, and his unsteady footing—which meant Madam had to support him—he seemed perfectly fine.
But Madam, who was usually so domineering, was acting like a delicate young wife, cradling Li Hao's arm against her chest and occasionally fixing his clothes with great care.
Granny Bai had also noticed that Li Qingluo was very different from usual that day. Her skin looked dewy, her pretty face was smooth, and her eyes were brighter. She even seemed to have an ethereal air about her.
Before Granny Bai could begin guessing what had happened in the secret chamber, Madam ordered her to arrange breakfast and fetch A Zhu and the others.
"Li Qingluo, could you stop supporting me?" Li Hao looked wryly at Li Qingluo, who was half supporting and half embracing him.
This cold, ruthless woman used to be icy and merciless. How had she turned into a sweet young wife in the blink of an eye? And why was she clinging to him so intimately? She didn't seem to notice that all the women around them were staring at him with blazing curiosity.
"Can you walk?" Li Qingluo's answer was brief. Her tone was still a little cold, but it sounded quite pleasant.
"Well, I think I can... You'd better keep supporting me!" Ah, the consequences of overindulgence!
Li Qingluo had an extraordinary constitution. The more times they did it, the younger and more beautiful she seemed to become. If she stood beside Wang Yuyan now and people voted on who was more attractive, most of those lecherous men would probably choose her.
Li Qingluo was the sort of woman who worshipped the strong. Back then, Duan Zhengchun had been young, handsome, highly skilled in martial arts, and born into a distinguished family. That was why she had been so devoted to him.
Now Li Hao had conquered her in both body and soul, and she had come to worship him just as fervently. Naturally, she was completely compliant.
"Mother..."
"Madam..."
Wang Yuyan, A Zhu, and A Bi stood at the entrance, staring at Li Hao and Wang Yuyan in the hall, and froze in shock.
Damn, did we sleep in such a bad position last night that we pinched a nerve in our brains and started seeing things?
In the hall, Li Hao was sitting at the table, eating noodles, while Madam Wang gently wiped his mouth.
"Second Young Master, are you all right?" A Bi hurried over to Li Hao and felt him up and down, checking whether he was hurt or missing any limbs.
"What are you doing? I'm fine." Li Hao darkened his expression and stopped A Bi before she could continue. This little girl was actually trying to check whether his little Li was still intact, right in front of everyone.
"Phew, thank goodness you're all right. What would we have done if something had happened to you?" A Bi's lips quivered, and she nearly burst into tears.
"You have some nerve saying that. None of you can hold your liquor, yet you still insisted on drinking. You all got drunk the moment the alcohol touched your lips." Li Hao glowered at them.
"Then how did you get through last night? Where did you sleep?" According to the ladies, the young master had strange sleeping habits. He couldn't sleep unless he had something to hold or fiddle with at night, and even when he did fall asleep, he slept poorly.
"You were all out cold, so how could I sleep? Luckily, Auntie was so hospitable that she made me feel right at home."
"Last night, we drank together and watched the stars all night. Then we talked about our hopes and ideals, and got to know each other's interests and hobbies in depth."
"After getting to know each other intimately, I realized that Auntie is actually a woman of considerable depth."
"Furthermore, Auntie has agreed to let Cousin Yuyan marry me as my second wife. All of Mantuo Mountain Villa's property will be given to me as her dowry."
"Auntie thinks so highly of me that I'm quite overwhelmed. I also promised everyone here that I'd take care of Auntie's food, clothing, housing, and transportation—and even her marriage and children from now on." Li Hao waved his hand and rattled off a string of words that could scare anyone to death.
"Mother, is what Second Cousin said true? I..." Wang Yuyan was on the verge of tears. I don't want to marry this scoundrel. I like Eldest Cousin Murong Fu.
But that last part was Wang Yuyan's inner monologue. She was timid and indecisive, and would never say such embarrassing things aloud or go against her mother's wishes.
"Yuyan, your cousin and I have already discussed it. I've agreed to your marriage, and your cousin has given several hundred million gold as the betrothal gifts. You're already engaged. We'll pick an auspicious day, and then you can marry him." Li Qingluo's face turned dark as she spoke.
What on earth did that bastard Li Hao mean? He'd said he would take care of her food, clothing, housing, transportation, marriage, and children.
Even if I remarry, having children is my husband's concern. What does that have to do with you?
