Background / History

A Bi serves at Canhe Manor in Gusu under the Murong Family. When Li Hao arrives with Jiumozhi, she enthusiastically receives him, convinced by his resemblance to Murong Fu that he is a Murong descendant and the manor's Second Young Master. She invites him to regard Canhe Manor as his own home. 34

Alongside A Zhu, A Bi helps usher Li Hao and his companions into Canhe Manor while Jiumozhi and Duan Yu are left outside. The two maids recognize that discussing Li Hao's identity in public would be unsafe because the manor is a target for outside spies. 35

A Bi becomes increasingly attached to Li Hao. When Deng Baichuan suggests that she and A Zhu could serve him instead of bringing women from Gusu's entertainment districts, she is embarrassed but privately willing. 39 She later accompanies Li Hao and A Zhu to Mantuo Mountain Villa, where she recounts how Madam Wang had punished her and A Zhu for secretly delivering messages to Wang Yuyan. 42
