"Eight years ago, Kagami died saving me. Without him, I wouldn't be here today. But these past few years, I had no choice. Without an Advisor who was hostile to the Uchiha, the clan might well have disappeared from the village. Even if it survived, its situation would only have grown worse."

"Advisor Danzo."

Fugaku murmured his name.

He no longer quite understood this Advisor.

The old Danzo had always greeted him with hostility, disdaining even his friendly smiles. Between that Danzo and the one before him now, which was the real man?

Danzo had no time to spare for Fugaku's thoughts. He continued, "Quite apart from the village's need for the Uchiha, it was the First Hokage and Madara Uchiha who founded the Leaf Village together. Without them, the village would never have enjoyed the prosperity it has today."

"Lord Madara believed peace could only come through unification. That belief clashed with the First's, and he eventually left the village. But no one can deny the contributions the Uchiha and Senju clans made to its founding. Both clans contributed more than any of us here."

As he spoke, he closed his eyes and said sorrowfully, "Yet in the end, forget awakening the First's Wood Style-the Senju Clan has only two members of its direct bloodline left. Founding the village wasn't something the First and Madara accomplished alone. Without their clansmen risking their lives behind them, could those two clans have become the greatest in the shinobi world?"

Danzo looked around at everyone present. "Ask yourselves honestly. The two strongest clans, the two that gave the most to the village, now have less say here than many of you. Do you truly not know why?"

Danzo was sincere at that moment!

At the very least, his words sounded sincere!
