"Uchiha Ye Fan... disappeared?"
Kisame Hoshigaki froze for a moment, then hurried over to Uchiha Itachi to check on him.
Uchiha Itachi lay on the ground, bleeding from every orifice and dressed in rags. He was badly injured and could barely move.
Seeing this, Kisame Hoshigaki quickly helped Itachi up and spoke in a rush:
"Mr. Itachi, while Ye Fan's gone, let's get out of here!
"If we don't leave now, it'll be too late. We'll both die here! His strength is absurd. We don't stand a chance against him!"
Uchiha Itachi leaned against a tree trunk to steady himself, then coughed violently and spat out several more mouthfuls of blood.
His injuries, combined with the backlash from using Susanoo, had left his Qi at an all-time low.
"Mr. Itachi, are you all right?"
Kisame was deeply worried about Itachi, but he was also extremely worried that Ye Fan might return.
Without taking time to think it over, Kisame reached out to pull Itachi onto his back so he could carry him to safety.
Before Kisame could touch Uchiha Itachi, Itachi stopped him.
"Kisame, we can't escape."
Kisame furrowed his brow at that, thinking Ye Fan had beaten Itachi into losing hope. He hurriedly said:
"Mr. Itachi, even if there's only half a chance, we can't give up! We have to try before we'll know if we can get away."
Uchiha Itachi shook his head. "It's not that I've given up. We don't need to run."
"Huh?" Kisame was left completely bewildered by those words. "Mr. Itachi, if we don't run, are we just supposed to stay here and wait to die?"
