Lina stood on the deck, looking around before stomping his foot, causing the wooden planks to creak.
"Looks like my logistical life is about to begin."
He climbed the rope to the crow's nest and looked down. Zoro was already sitting on one side of the deck, dozing against the railing.
Looking up, the entire vast blue sea was in his sight.
He turned back to look at the island, his gaze passing through the forest. He could vaguely see houses scattered within the village.
"The view is great from here!"
Lina lit a cigarette and leaned on the railing with one hand, smiling.
"Then I'll take this spot. You can leave the lookout duty to me from now on!"
"Ah, sure," Luffy replied with a smile.
Lina jumped down from the crow's nest and opened a large blue backpack.
These were some supplies Kaya had given him. Besides food, the rest were daily necessities and a small amount of medicine.
"There's even shampoo and body wash? Merry is quite thoughtful."
After organizing and checking the items, Lina began to explore the Merry.
The secret doors on the deck and mast opened to reveal the male dormitory below, which had two sofas and a few hammocks in the corner.
"It's completely open."
Lina sighed, looking at the simple dormitory.
The cabin at the bow was where the cannons and cannonballs were stored.
There were two levels of cabins on the deck. The first floor was the warehouse, with several cannons installed on the sides. Lina placed some of the supplies there.
The female dormitory was below the warehouse. Lina took a brief look inside; the furnishings were clearly much more luxurious than the male dormitory, with sofas, a table, bookshelves, a wardrobe, and even a bar counter!
He went outside the deck, where stairs on both sides led to the second floor. The second floor was the common living area, consisting of a kitchen, dining room, and meeting room.
After exploring for a while, Lina summoned several skeletons to help categorize and place the supplies.
"Not bad, Lina."
Nami walked onto the ship and smiled at Lina, who was leaning against the railing on the outside of the second floor. "Your ability can actually be used for this kind of work. It looks like things will be much easier from now on."
"It's a small matter. I'll have them clean the entire ship inside and out later," Lina said calmly, lighting another cigarette.
Although the combat-ready undead were currently only templates of Luffy, Zoro, and Kuro, he still had plenty of grunts, including Morgan.
These could be used for odd jobs without any heartache.
He had modeled Kuro after Wolverine. Since he was undead, he looked a bit creepy, but at least he had a human form.
During normal battles, they were fine against weak enemies, but when facing well-known opponents, he wouldn't personally enter the fray.
He wanted to keep the outside world separate from his undead, and hide himself as much as possible until he obtained top-tier combat undead from his own hands.
He wasn't entirely without combat ability; after all, with the Devil Fruit ability enhancement, his physical condition wasn't bad.
But his strength could only be considered average. Let alone comparing him to Luffy and Zoro, he was even weaker than his own undead.
He had only been here for a year, and no matter how much he trained, his strength improvement was limited.
He wasn't an Effort-Effort Fruit user who could defy the heavens through sheer effort.
Unless he activated his transformation state and became a Lich Lord, but that would attract too much attention, which was not conducive to a stealthy development phase.
In his transformed state, his physical attributes would be based on the strongest corresponding attribute among his undead.
For example, he could currently have Kuro's speed and Zoro's arm strength, while other attributes would depend on Luffy's well-balanced overall stats.
Simply put, his strength ultimately depended on the undead he had. He hadn't brought any other advantages with him when he transmigrated, so expecting to become invincible through effort was just a dream.
However, his "cheat," the Devil Fruit, had a very high ceiling; all it lacked was time.
As for what Teacher Kai said about Haki being supreme.
He could take it as a joke. He himself was a Devil Fruit user, so whoever was stronger called the shots.
Enel even called himself a god, yet he was still defeated by Luffy.
If that was the case, did destiny reign supreme above all else?
In short, things were determined by human effort.
He withdrew his thoughts; the cigarette had burned down to the filter.
Usopp had moved all the supplies onto the ship, and they were about to raise anchor and set sail.
"Goodbye, everyone. Goodbye, Usopp."
"Goodbye, Kaya. I'll tell you about my adventures when I return, stories even more exciting than tall tales."
Usopp waved goodbye to Kaya. Today, he had finally taken the first step towards becoming a brave warrior of the sea.
Kaya and Merry stood on the shore, watching quietly until the small boat disappeared from the sea's surface.
"Miss Kaya, a few days ago, I heard some things about Usopp from the villagers."
Merry smiled and slowly began, "Before his mother passed away, Usopp kept shouting 'Pirates are coming!' in the village and rushed home."
"He shouted to tell his mother that his father was coming back to pick them up and take them out to sea."
"Perhaps it was loneliness, but after his mother died, he would also shout 'Pirates are coming!' in the village every day."
"The villagers said that his lies were mixed with a strong wish, hoping that one day his father would return to pick them up..."
Kaya listened quietly to Merry's words, gazing at the sea as if deep in thought.
"Merry... I want to learn medical skills."
"Is that so? That's a big decision to make so suddenly."
On the Merry, several people were celebrating.
"Let's toast to the Merry and Usopp!"
"Cheers--!"
"I don't think you guys have a pirate flag yet."
Usopp looked up at the empty mast. "A flag is the soul of a pirate crew. Just tell me what you have in mind, my drawing skills are top-notch!"
"Really!"
Luffy's face lit up with excitement. "I didn't know you had that talent."
"I often draw on the village walls, it's something I've practiced since I was little," Usopp said proudly.
Soon, Lina brought a piece of black cloth, several cans of paint, and some brushes from the warehouse.
Usopp began to paint wildly on the black cloth and, in no time, completed a pirate flag.
A white skull with a yellow straw hat, and a pair of crossed bones behind it.
"Not bad, Usopp."
Lina took the flag and couldn't help but praise him. "I'll go hang it up. You draw the outline for the sail, and I'll control the skull to paint the colors."
"Leave it to me!"
Soon, with the cooperation of Usopp and Lina, a giant pattern identical to the flag was also drawn on their sail.
The group couldn't help but smile as they looked at it.
The Straw Hat Pirates were officially established.
"Nami, how long will it take us to reach Cocoyasi Village?"
Lina suddenly asked.
Nami replied without hesitation, "Two days. But..."
"I still need to ask again, are you guys really sure? Arlong's bounty is twenty million, but I suspect his strength is far beyond that."
"Many Marines have come to defeat Arlong in the past, and all of them failed. He's secretly colluding with a certain branch, suppressing many crimes, which is why his bounty has never increased..."
Hearing this, Zoro couldn't help but frown. He used to make a living by hunting bounty criminals and had some understanding of the Marines' bounty rules.
Bounties could reflect a person's strength to a certain extent, and twenty million in the East Blue was definitely very high.
Judging by Nami's words, the opponent's strength was probably far greater than they had imagined.
